Who do we play next week and where?

id rather play the Dragons Now instead of the Grand Final.

I'd rather go through the weaker teams first. We don't want to burn out the same way Melbourne did last year.

That can't happen now. We either play them next week or the week after.

ah ok well then in the case id rather be the team to knock them out the week after.

Broncs vs Dragons GF can't happen now and that is probably a good thing. I'm with the Manly --> dragons route which looks more than likely now.

It isn't an instant win against the Eagles next week. I would have loved to take on the dogs without Kimmorley --> that is a 80 percent chance right there!

Incredibly hard run to the GF with our current team IMO. As supporters I think we should be proud of our achievements this year. Seriously. Well done boys!

In saying that - let's have a real shot this year!

Manly without Lyons and possibly Watmough, they come back to the field somewhat. We just need Orford to go MIA again, and if we play like we did in the first half, we have to be a real chance.

This system is horrible, Titans get rewarded with playing Melbourne in Melbourne who finished below them in the second week. This system doesn't reward the top 4 what so ever.

I'm bummed that the Broncos wont be playing in Sydney at all till the GF if they get that far. If we beat the Dragqueens next week we head down to Melbourne right?

thats right

Wrong. Must be played in Sydney. They can't have two home games

Why not? Week 3 is home region finals.

No. Tryhard is wrong. Given the system tries to ensure teams 1 and 2 get through to week 3, and it's home regions, they're expecting back to back home finals.

It'll be in Melbourne and so it should be. The only time it'd be switched would be if the other game wasn't hosted by a sydney team. But since the bulldogs are through it'll be fine.

Under this system, the competition ends at round 26. The finals is basically a whole new competition and it rewards those who win each week.

If we just went purely by the winners this week, and apply the AFL system, it would've been:

Melbourne def St George-Illawarra
Bulldogs def Titans
Parramatta def Manly
Broncos def Knights

Knights and Manly eliminated.
Melbourne and Bulldogs through to week 3.

Week 2:
Broncos vs Titans, winner to play Melbourne
Parramatta vs St George-Illawarra, winner to play Bulldogs

So in retrospect, whichever 8 team series we used, it wouldn't have changed much.

I like the variation of the McIntyre system where it works the same, but as reward for finishing 1st you a) play at home and b) choose who out of teams 5-8 you want to play. 2nd then gets to pick one of the 3 remaining teams. 3rd gets to pick one of the last 2, and 4 gets whoever's left.

Well no, they MAY move the game to Sydney if there's no suitable venue available.

tryhard may have a point actually - It's not a "home" final, so the Storm playing at their traditional home stadium will be a BIGGER advantage to them.

The reason it's "home regions" in week 3 is because it's supposed to be a slight advantage to the team that got a week off but at the same time being sort of neutral. (For example, the Dogs will play the Eels at the SFS in week 3 as opposed to their home ground ANZ..)

So really, if Etihad is booked out, surely they can't have it played down at Olympic Park? Sydney would be a more neutral venue (but will struggle for anything more than 20,000)

Will be interesting to see what happens. Maybe they'll switch the games over? So it'll be played on the Friday night instead of the Saturday night which is booked out? That would seem to be the more logical approach.
It would be crazy to go up against the AFL GF weekend in Melbourne, absolutely insane.....

They should move it to Brisbane [icon_shady

Nice try...they had a preliminary final in Melbourne on AFL Grand final weekend in 2007 IIRC.
