Willison Commits To Broncos Until End Of 2027

Emerging forward Xavier Willison has committed to the Brisbane Broncos until the end of the 2027 season.

The highly rated 22-year-old took big steps forward last season, playing 19 games as he established himself as a NRL regular and starting in the front row for two late-season wins over the Cowboys and Eels.

The Broncos Academy product averaged more than 100 running metres per game across 2024 as well as making 23 tackles per game at 94 per cent efficiency, in addition to 38 tackles breaks and three tries.

Willison has made 30 NRL appearances for the Broncos since making his debut against the Cowboys in Round 20, 2021. He went on to score his first NRL try the following week against the Knights.

The tackle-busting Willison - who captained Palm Beach Currumbin SHS to the Allan Langer Cup trophy in his final year at school in 2020 - will be looking to continue his rise in 2025 with plenty of hard work under Coach Michael Maguire.

Broncos Head Of Recruitment & Academy Simon Scanlan said: "Xavier came into our Academy as a 15-year-old from New Zealand and it has been really pleasing to see his continued development into an NRL player off the back of plenty of hard work.

"He is at the start of his career and we are looking forward to his growth playing in a forward pack alongside the likes of Pat Carrigan and Payne Haas.

“He has a strong work ethic which makes him a Michael Maguire-style of player and he will thrive in the culture of hard work.

"We are really proud of Xavier for his journey as a Bronco so far and we are excited that he has chosen to remain part of the Broncos family."

8. Willison
9. Mozer
10. Haas
13. Carrigan

Anyone?
Looks sexy, but I dno if Mozer can play 80 (I wish we had someone like Watson who could play 20 mins at hooker and move to the middle when Mozer comes on. Thinking Hetho could possibly do the role, but his service would likely be too bad). Also prefer X on the bench atm, but he ought to be playing 50-55 mins

I still personally think we need Willison off the bench. We dont have a great deal of impact and he had to have been one of the best bench impact forwards at any club last year.

It will be interesting to see what the early preseason return does for Te Kura. He obviously has the potential to take over Willison's impact role.

Holy shit! These big dicks in the broncos head office have been sitting on these for weeks or months and have waited until the deadline to announce. Wasted every other teams time planning their raids.

I love this club sometimes
