Seems a bit odd playing at KC Stadium rather than Craven Park. Craven Park can be quite intimidating but it only holds about 10k so they are probably using the bigger stadium even though its City's home ground.

Rest the major players. Last time we went overseas we came 12th

We're going over to win ... Madge has already confirmed we'll be going as full strength as possible.

Besides that 12th had more to do with Losing Walsh and Reynolds for large parts of the season than it did playing in Vegas

it would be nice to have atleast 1 game over there as a trial before this one.

Not sure we would be taking a big enough squad to allow them to just run them out for like 15mins before subbing off.

You wouldn't really want to play a full strength squad for 2 games in England, but not sure they're taking like 25 players over either.

Maybe they can line up a decent opposed session with a local team, like the origin teams do

Absolutely hate this. Would be sending a reserve grade side or not playing at all.

Total waste of time. The quality of Super League is laughably low, there is no need to lower ourselves to that pitiful level of competition and for no benefit or reward - I'd be very surprised if anyone genuinely cares about the WCC title, half the time it's not even played. Totally empty and meaningless game in my opinion.

Not to mention its a disaster waiting to happen. The second a big time NRL player collides with signage on the edge of their tiny in-goal or cops a season-ending injury on some second rate UK field and misses the season this stupid game will never be played again and looked at as totally unnecessary (which it is).

UK teams won the last 2 WCC played ....

This will be Madge`s 3rd WCC . One with St Helens , one with Souths .

He might know a thing or two ?

Too keen for this!! Got my tickets for the missus and I and are flying over from brissy. Snagged some tickets out of the broncos’ bays - hoping we don’t get lynched if we get up.
Man that's what I call loyalty. I thought I was being loyal driving down to canberra for their semi final this year but you are next level.
Hope you get a chance to meet some of the players and get selfies, autographs etc.
If you want post your experience of going over on this thread when you get back I am sure a few of us would be interested.

I can see why Madge wants this game and wants to take the strongest team possible.

When you're instilling an attitude where you chase everything you have the opportunity to win, you don't pick and choose what's worth the effort and what isn't. It's that ruthlessness he wants to instill in the side where it doesn't matter if it's a pre-season game or a grand final, if there's a trophy to win we're going for it.

When borderline first grade NRL players like Bevan French and Brodie Croft and Krisnan Inu go over there and look like the most unstoppable, talented players ever to lace a boot it tells you a lot about the standard of play.

Over a full season most Super League teams would struggle to make the 8 ...

But remember the Panthers, one of the greatest teams of the modern era (maybe even of all time) could not defeat the Super League champions
Losing both times they played the WCC ...

This will be a test for us

I think a few of you forget just how bad some sides in the NRL are. Wigan, St Helens, Hull KR would all challenge for top 5-8. If Cronulla can regularly make top 8 and top 4, these three sides would be in contention for those spots for sure.

I wouldn't go that far, I think the best teams would be roughly near making the 8 the bottom half of the comp though would be slaughtered every game, they might start alright but with the smaller funds and squad quality they would get progressively worse as the season goes on imo.

You have to keep in mind the play style is different and will favour some players that NRL doesn't.

French for instance is playing a position that he never touched in Australia so it's hard to say he is even remotely the same player who was a winger for Eels.
