Is the livestream of the broncos awards working for anyone?
If someone had to describe the ultimate 'footy player chaser' his +1 would be a pretty accurate description.
She looks like she spent her youth at North Ipswich Reserve trying to get into U18 Jets players.I only say that as I saw the pic on Instagram earlier - eye catching at the least lol

Be careful mate.Because he rarely did anything wrong apart from early defensive lapses? He needs to improve his passing but he plays to his strengths. You’re really overstating his negatives. It’s like continually carrying on about Hynes not being fast enough for fullback - yeah it’s a deficit but it’s also ignoring all the things he does well. Similar to obsessing with Reynolds lack of try assists.
I'm only critical of him because he's been one of the few mainstays of the team all season, and he's gushed over despite being sorely lacking in the skills needed in his position. Isaako, Turpin, Flegler, Kennedy, Kelly, Arthars, Coates, Mead, Oates, Croft, Milford, Niu, Dearden you name it, all copped a lot of shit. Herbie, protected species. Yet not much to show for it. Weird.
You’ve gone too far off the edge now lol. Walking into rambling territory. This read like a bad Huge argument.
Congratulation Herbie on receiving your well deserved Brisbane Broncos best back award. . You are a al-round athlete with so much potential and ability. You are willing to take the tough carries and with the limited clean ball you have received you have displayed a variation of skills to confirm your true potential. A typical example in your player of the match performance against Newcastle Knight when you received the ball in your own quarter ( at long last given the ball in space to move in) you split the Newcastle defense, accelerated, came off your right and left foot, body swerved, inter changed the ball left to right, took the ball to the line, with peripheral vision and skill you then at speed, lowered the ball to your right foot and kicked into the in-goal area for Tessie to gather. Continue your progress and development. You are a long way from your English home and to my understanding haven't seen your family this season, because of the pandemic may not be able to see them or go home until the end of next season. I and many other fans who appreciate your talents and sacrifice understand the ups and downs of all young players. We understand progress is at stages. We appreciate you all. We look at the positives at what you have to offer knowing full well you are working hard on other areas. We want you all to suceed and are there for you. Well done Herbie and well done all our young players.Herbie was given 20 games to show what he could do in the centres. He made a lot of commotion, but it amounted to very little on the scoreboard.
He looked okay, particularly in defence and hitting it up like a forward, but once Staggs returned it became glaringly obvious he's not a ball playing centre or a try scoring machine, and if he wants to be one he needs to dramatically broaden his skillset with the ball.
If you want proof that Herbie isn't a centre, watch Staggs. Shit happens every time he touches the ball. And players around him should expect he'll set them up.
A good first grade centre should have excellent ball skills. He should be able to pass right and left running at full pace. His everyday passes will hit the chest hard and straight. He's a specialist at drawing two men and creating an overlap. He will instinctively understand his wingers, verging on telepathically. He will be solid under the high ball, and be able to catch bad passes from his halves on the trot.
A great centre will have freakish ball skills, with a wide repertoire of improbable trick shots up his sleeve. He runs diagonally. Overlaps are his bread and butter. This defines his position. All great centres are ball playing freaks who specialize in making wingers look stupid.
Herbie is not at the level I would call a "good" centre, let alone a "great' one. He's an enthusiastic footballer, has fairly safe hands, better than average footwork, excellent goalkicking, a decent kicking game, but his passing skills are so limited he is an impediment in the backline. Unfortunately, the same applies to fullback.
Jesse Arthars is adequate, maybe verging on a good centre. He's a better centre than Herbie. But Herbie is better footballer looking for somewhere he fits.
I'll be surprised if Herbie is moved from the centres in the first few rounds next year, but I'll be even more surprised if he's still there at the end of the season. Unless he stacks his toolbox in the meantime.
It's okay. I know I'm the odd one out on this, like I was on Macca before everyone else got on the bandwagon.Because he rarely did anything wrong apart from early defensive lapses? He was one of our only attacking weapons the whole year. It's okay. I know I'm the odd one out on this, like I was on Macca before everyone else got on the bandwagon.
No one wants Herbie to succeed more than me, but right now in my mind, he's the most overrated player in the team. Not the worst; the most overrated. Honestly, I don't get the adulation.
I might have to to go sit in the corner for a while on this one. By myself.
Gee, I don't know if I can go along with that. He's 14th on our list of top tryscorers. In fairness, three of those players joined other clubs for the season's end:He was one of our only attacking weapons the whole year.

I know "scoring tries" isn't the last word, etc. But if he were that much of a "weapon" he might've got a couple more in 20 games, y'know.
Back to my little corner I go.
Yeh i think that whole inside left shoulder starting from Lexy was our weakest in years. Plus Oatest was our main metre getter coming out of our end so the left hand side of the field was always constricted right up until Oates was back in position and that usually meant tackle 3 and 4 so Herbie invairably had nothing to work with. As a consequence he became our second metre eater following up Oatsey's carry. He is absolute value for money we wanna keep him. Wait till hes got a Capewell and Reynolds on his inside. He might be better suited for wing, but he's a really good player with safe hands and great kicking and would start on just about any other team in the NRL.
No hard feelings from me. We all have bad takes from time to time.Be careful mate.
If McHunt doesn’t like you calling out the ridiculous nature of his constant, ongoing criticisms of Farnworth; he might block you too.
It’s actually very Huge like. It's okay. I know I'm the odd one out on this, like I was on Macca before everyone else got on the bandwagon.

I also stuck up for Haas when everyone else was bashing him in the off-season. Same with Staggs. And Niu last year when he was getting belted for his Father's tweet. Also Fifita when he was dithering over this contract. I think Jamayne has only two defenders. I'm the other one. I also think Kennedy will come good. So there: unpopular opinions R us.No hard feelings from me. We all have bad takes from time to time.
It’s actually very Huge like.
You start with a reasonable though not necessarily popular observation (“Herbie needs to develop a passing game”, “Kennedy is decent value for money”) and then when BHQ has many posts praising Herbie (or shitting on Kennedy) you feel compelled to comment. Then when people start to counter your argument you dig your heels in deeper to the point where your once reasonable observation has now transformed into bordering on laughable as any resistance to your view leads to further doubling down.
It’s vintage Huge, except he defends players he thinks are unfairly criticised, while you bring down a player you think is being unfairly overrated.
Nothing wrong with any of those opinions. Just that your Herbie posts have been pretty silly at time, McHuge.I also stuck up for Haas when everyone else was bashing him in the off-season. Bashing wise, just Milford, and Coates a little bit. Herbie I criticize for not being a centre. I'd still pick him on the wing. And Carrigan, I'm not convinced he's as good as everyone says. He's another spud with the ball. But top bloke, etc.
I got really savaged for my criticism of Macca a few years ago.
I guess I just tripled down.
I'm somewhat with you on the Carrigan train. He's okay. Whether he will ever be more than okay I think is up for debate. He doesn't really bend the line, he doesn't really have much of an offload. He does the 1%'ers yes but I'm not sure that's enough to keep him in the 13 - and if he's not in the 13 I don't see much value in him coming off the bench.I also stuck up for Haas when everyone else was bashing him in the off-season. Let's compare notes into the next season.Nothing wrong with any of those opinions. Just that your Herbie posts have been pretty silly at time, McHuge.
Yeah, I'm one foot on the platform, one minding the gap. He churns out the numbers, but like [redacted], it never seems to result in us scoring tries or keeping them out. I like at least one of my forwards to be a mad bastard who inflicts pain, but can also get the odd ball away. TPJ left that vacancy wide open. Flegler stepped right up and he's starting to look quite promising. Kennedy had a go as well, but not so convincing. But I reckon he'll come good and silence his critics, the way Flegler did. Willison is a complete wild card. I'm not sure what we're getting with him but my hunch is something special.I'm somewhat with you on the Carrigan train. He's okay. He's a workhorse sponge. Not sure if that's enough in the long term unless he improves.
All fair and reasonable (and accurate) points, but I think you might have the wrong person with the bolded part.No hard feelings from me. We all have bad takes from time to time.
