This exactly where I'm at. Our defence has been shit for years, even during our last two grand final years. I don't think Teo brought that much to the table re: defence. I think the bigger issue was that the players seemed to love him being around. They all talked highly of him from what I've seen.
Can't agree with the Teo take. Our defence has been bad for years, this is not a new thing. The two games after he left, we looked the best defensively that we have for years! Time may prove me wrong but I don't think Teo was that big of a loss with respect to how we defend. Personally I think it's more that we are a man short on the coaching staff - combined with injuries, chopping and changing players week to week means there's no consistency, guys are running out next to different...
Whatever grace period Madge got with winning the premiership is most certainly used up. Losing Teo as our defensive coach has been an absolute disaster and looks like he did the right thing for his coaching career by walking.
The players seem to be putting in so I don't think Madge has lost the group but even worse, whatever style of play Madge has come up with obviously isn't working. I get that we have had a massive impact from injuries but that doesn't explain our passive, ineffective...
And this is what that "injury chart" going around does not measure. 3 depth players being out all season but who wouldn't have gotten a game is very different to 6 top 17 players being out half the season each, when considering impact on the team. Multiple smaller injuries have a greater impact on the squad due to changing players week to week.
We haven't run out the same 13 twice in a row all year. It feels like there's been what, 3 or 4 games where we haven't lost someone during the...
