There's a few young players coming through that could be the goods, but they're years away from being ready.

I think there's only one player that should be on the list and that's Walker. Bring him back and have Reyno mentor him. There's been rumblings lately that all is not well in Bondi.

Out of the current young halfbacks, he's probably the one most likely to actually be successful in the role.
I think Walker or Dearden are the best options of the current young halves and would be happy with either though I still think if your committing to a halfback under 28 you are playing the long game and accepting a GF is unlikely until they mature.

Lachlan Lam.
Lachlan Lam is in that nice mid 20s bracket, has nrl experience and has shown he can manage a team (has done really well leading the PNG international team).

With walker, he has not got a long kick in him. If we had a halves of walker and mam, our kicking game would be shit, and it is so important to have a top shelf kicking game for field position.

I know walsh can kick, but I would want a half with a capable kicking game.

One thing to consider is Reynolds will almost certainly stick around in a coaching capacity. We haven't had a good halves mentor, to have one of the best minds to coach our next halfback will be invaluable. Locky is more interested in the corporate world but Reyno strikes me as someone who will stick around and coach.

I reckon he'll also play a big part in recruiting his replacement.

Here's one for you all (and I am not anticipating positive feedback)...

If we don't sign Hass, could we look at using some of that money to sign Luai? Partner him with Reynolds, with him eventually taking the 7...
I thought you’re a nice guy @Santa . Boy, what’ve you been smoking? 😉

Luia is a absolute wanker but he would make a good replacement for Reynolds.
Not sure about that... he basically shits himself whenever Cleary dies on the last and he has to come up with a kick

Taking Luaias character out of the picture for a second, he is exactly the same style of player as Mamm and our team doesn't need 2 of them. We need another general who organises and kicks something which Luaia and Mamm don't do and aren't expected to either in their teams.

We could probably fast track that a bit with a good mentor.

Unless Roosters release him, we wouldn't get him until 2026 and by then most of the elite halfbacks will be retired so that will even things out a fair bit.
