Hooker Tyson Smoothy has become the latest Brisbane Bronco to sign a contract extension, committing to the club until the end of the 2025 season.
The 24-year-old was one of the good-news stories of 2023 for Brisbane, winning an NRL contract after joining the club during the pre-season on a train-and-trial deal, before forcing his way into the top 17 for the back half of the season and playing in the NRL Grand Final.


A Broncos Academy Graduate and former Brisbane NYC hooker, the Sunshine Coast local went on to make 13 appearances for the Broncos in 2023, predominantly as the No.14 coming off the interchange into dummy half.
His crisp passing, solid defence, high work ethic and friendly nature made him a favourite amongst teammates - the former Hostplus Cup Hooker of the Year also chiming in with three try assists and four line break assists for the season from limited minutes.

Smoothy joins a host of teammates to commit to the club's future until at least the end of 2025 including Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan, Jordan Riki, Brendan Piakura, Reece Walsh, Kotoni Staggs, Selwyn Cobbo, Kobe Hetherington, Jesse Arthars, Corey Jensen, Deine Mariner, Xavier Willison, Tristan Sailor and Blake Mozer.

Breakout playmaker Ezra Mam has become the latest Brisbane Bronco to commit long-term to the club, signing a five-year contract extension to the end of the 2029 season.

The 21-year-old set the NRL alight during 2023 in his first full season in the top grade, making the Broncos’ No.6 jersey his own with a string of standout performances.

A Broncos Academy graduate who started in the club’s talent pathways aged 13, Mam made his NRL debut in Round 11, 2022 against the Knights and now has 38 appearances under his belt including 24 tries and 16 try assists.

His 2023 season – capped by a three-try performance in the Grand Final – saw him make 25 NRL appearances for 18 tries, 9 try assists, 10 line break assists, 56 tackle breaks, 9 offloads and 98 running metres per game.

Broncos Coach Kev Walters said Mam’s retention was fantastic for the Club and another key player locked in for the long-term.

Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds has become the latest Brisbane Bronco to recommit to the club, signing a contract extension to the end of the 2025 season.

The 274-gamer is entering his third year at the Broncos where his 43 appearances have been central to the squad’s steady rise to Grand Finalists last season.


Reynolds delivers unrivalled leadership, creativity with the ball in hand or at foot and an uncanny game sense, as well as plenty of points with the No.7 already notching 359 points for the Broncos from 11 tries, 155 goals and three field goals.
In total he has amassed 2,254 points across his 12 seasons in the NRL from 49 tries, 1,015 goals and 25 field goals.

Coach Walters Extends to End of 2026​

The Brisbane Broncos have extended the contract of Head Coach Kevin Walters to the end of 2026.

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said the one-year extension was recognition of Walters’ success in developing the football program, and would provide continued stability for the club going forward.

Walters, a five-time Premiership winner with the Broncos and former Captain with 241 premiership games as a player, was announced as Head Coach at the end of 2020 at a difficult time for the club and he has overseen consistent improvement both on and off the field in his time as coach.


Donaghy said: “This is the third time that we have extended Kev’s tenure as Head Coach and that’s reflective of the job he is doing in leading positive change across our football program.

He has taken the team from last place to a Grand Final appearance last season in a short period of time, and his sights are firmly set on continuing that improvement in the years ahead.

Walters, who with 78 games as Broncos Head Coach to his name is fast closing on becoming the club’s second-longest serving mentor, said: “It’s no secret how much I love the Broncos, and being able to coach this group for even one game rates as an absolute honour for me.

"To extend my time as coach for a third time is testament to the hard work of all the players and coaches and staff who work as part of our football department.

We have had some success but we are hungry for much more and I believe that we have all bought into building something special here together at the Broncos.

The 30-year-old has made the Broncos’ No.9 jersey his own with a string of standout performances over the past 12 months.


The super-consistent hooker has played 35 of a possible 36 games since the start of the 2023 season, crossing for eight tries and growing into a constant offensive threat while leading his team’s defensive effort in every game.

Gosiewski Joins Broncos Through 2025​

Backrower Jack Gosiewski has joined the Brisbane Broncos through to the end of the 2025 season.

The 29-year-old from Murwillumbah comes to the Broncos with 68 NRL appearances and 14 tries under his belt having made his debut in 2016 for the Rabbitohs before joining Manly in 2018 for four seasons.


He played a major role in the Sea Eagles' run to the second week of finals in 2019 before moving onto the Dragons and then the Cowboys where he has played 12 NRL games since the start of the 2023 season.

With a reputation for hard work and being a good team man, Gosiewski will provide valuable depth to Brisbane's forwards.

Gosiewski's signing follows a host of his new teammates recommitting to the Broncos including Billy Walters, Ezra Mam, Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan, Jordan Riki, Brendan Piakura, Selwyn Cobbo, Kobe Hetherington, Jesse Arthars, Tyson Smoothy, Corey Jensen, Deine Mariner, Xavier Willison, Tristan Sailor and Blake Mozer.

Jack brings a good work ethic and an ability to play his role, so he will fit right in here with what we are building together at the Broncos.
