In Round 11, Roberts was penalized for passing the ball off the ground. He was held and passed it.

Last night, Panthers player is held, gets up and passes the ball but Cecchin doesn't blow a penalty.. He just rules a handover and Broncos had to play the ball.

What's the difference?

The Panthers one was on the 5th so as soon as the tackle was made it was a handover. There were some poor calls on Friday night but that wasn't one of them.

So if you do something that would usually get a penalty on the 5th it's not a penalty? Hear that boys, shoulder charges on the last all night long!

They probably gave him the benefit of the doubt due to the no held call going out. So if it was on the 4th, the ref would have simply called it back.

Roberts was clearly tackled. His was just dumb.

Roberts didn't know 6 again had been called, he thought it was the last. It was just desperation.

If your arm carrying the ball touches the ground the ref doesn't need to call held. The tackle is complete and you know it because it's your arm.

Dead set the worst ref in the NRL, he's good for at least 3-4 completely shit and wrong calls every game.

Bumping this thread in anticipation of tonight's game. Will we be on the receiving end of a Matt "Chicken Legs" Cecchin special?

Kinda sick of ref talk to be honest. I very much doubt we win or lose based solely off a bad call.

Yeah if anything it's going to be numerous calls.

haha nice one.

i'm just a bit over the focus on the refs and the crutch it gives a set of supporters/team
yes absolutely there are times when one call does turn a game, but the frequency of that is very small.

we will win or lose deservingly so on our own merits...

Yeah if anything it's going to be numerous calls.

And also how the whole game pans out. There are many twists and turns throughout the game and other incidents (forward pass, knock on etc) that can be the turning point, change momentuem, knock a teams confidence.

Refereeing was fine. We lost the big moments tonight. That's all there is to it.

Nope.

Once again Brisbane lost to the better team.

Deal with it.
