Half the points scored against us the year were scored down our right side.
If Gillette was there most of those points wouldn't have been scored.
Get the spine right and we will out sore any side.
**** the wrestle, lets play footy.

Sometimes we consider change to be unfair for the game but it can also be unfair for the team if we don’t accept it. The wrestle to hurt is totally unacceptable but to slow down the play the ball to improve our defence is a no brainer. If we don’t, it gives our opposition too big of an advantage and by being the good guys we have become one of the worst defensive sides in the competition. I hate the wrestle but if the NRL are accepting so should we until until it changes.

THIS!

For all those saying we can win without the wrestle please check the trophy cabinet. Been 12 years and counting while there were other factors this is also the time when wrestle became part of the game.

Was reading Corey Parker's book Iron Man and here's his thoughts on the wrestle:

"The wrestle is the scourge of rugby league but it was already at the Broncos when I made my debut in 2001. We used to have to go for wrestling sessions at the PCYC and they were full-on.

Sometimes blood would be spilled and there would be wayward head-butts going on and everything like that.

Players like Shane Webcke would see them as a real opportunity to try and assert some force and, as a young kid, I never wanted to take a backward step.

Now every club has wrestling sessions and we do two or three at the Broncos a week and I hate them.

I know Wayne isn't a fan of the wrestle, but he also understands that it's part of the game."

Interesting. Is is possible we just need a new wrestling coach?

It's like others have said here: Melbourne get 2-3 more seconds in the ruck than any other team in the comp. With us we get called to get off the player instantly, Melbourne get to commit a player or two while holding the bloke up and then peel one by one, when we do that we get penalised.

It's why we sent Vidot to the WWE.

Well it’s almost as choreographed as the NRL.... but seriously if we train at wrestling that much then both the wrestling coach and the guy responsible for not firing him need the sack. Nobody can be that incompetent.

I guess not, he'll be with the Reds from November onward.

We sure this isn't on Wayne? That's 2 assistant / specialist coaches in consecutive seasons that have bailed prematurely.

I love the 2 clips they showed of him making tackles when he played.........both would most likely get a few weeks in today's game haha.

Surely they didn’t offer him a day a week like they offered Gillmeister.

I really hope that wasn't the case.

It is quite embarrassing that the biggest club in the country doesn't take the role that seriously. 1 day a week? It's fucking stupid. A defence coach really should be there several days a week doing sessions with the players.

Ryan had recently been assisting the Broncos on a casual basis but will now begin work with a young Reds squad on a two-year deal.

Source ESPN today 11.13am.

https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/10/11/peter-ryan-to-bring-2006-defensive-clout-to-broncos-in-new-role/

No clue?... 10 weeks with us prior to joining the reds, and the “super” rugby season only goes till july. And he will still be available as a consultant even during that period...

The Original story a month ago was Ryan returns as assistant coach- in reality it's 10 weeks, while working for another organisation.

None of those details were there and when they wrote it I know he hadn't even met yet with the Broncos and hadn't made a commitment- like I said.

So yes clueless- no Reds details and no 10 weeks mentioned. Which are also the reasons I said went ridiculously early.
