Rugby Union World Cup 2011

Associating low scores with a boring game is a cop out. Some of the lowest scoring matches of Rugby League are the most compelling.

I love each game equally but I'd consider Rugby a far more expansive than League. Do people not realise how structured our game is? Hit up, dummy half run, hit up, hit up, hit up, spin it wide (don't go near the sideline though!), kick. The amount of tries scored, or attempted, from kicks these days is appaling. It's an admission from teams they lack creativity.

I acknowledge that Rugby's show piece event is sadly, generally a poor advertisement for the code. In saying that, I struggle to believe, that as sport fans, one can't at the very least appreciate the nuances of another code. Soccer is the worlds most boring sport to me, though that doesn't stop me from enjoying the contest and appreciating the players.

I am not associating the low score with it being boring.

The score was the exciting part. It was the other parts that were boring.

It could be just the international games, that are the most boring.

I found quite a few Super 15 games to be entertaining.

France played an exciting brand of football.

Too bad Rugby Union only rewards boring pieces of play.

And yes, League is heading that way, that's why people on here are comparing Bellamy to Saddam.

France have been fined $15,000 for walking into the exclusion zone for the Haka. Don't quite agree with the rule, they should be allowed to challenge it.

And the Best and Fairest Winner is under investigation for eye gouging McCaw. Hope the little #### loses his award.

He won't lose the award.

Noone was cited, over the alleged incident.

McCaw is a dirty player & gets away with heaps of cr@p. Maybe it was payback.

Doesn't matter if he's a dirty player or not. If you get caught eye gouging, you should be dropped from any sport immediately.

Ali Williams from the ABs is notorious for entering the exclusion zone towards the end of the Haka. Yet to see him get fined.

I always assumed it was one of those rules that was more so a guideline, as teams quite commonly enter the exclusion zone. I figured it would only be enforced given a serious breach eg. contact made. The IRB have completely over-policed this World Cup.

Yeah they have. I don't see why they can't get as close as they want without any contact.

I don't have an issue with McCaws style of play and dont really view him as dirty.

Yep, but usually that's because the play before someone 3 or 4 in from the sideline has cut inside instead of stayed out and draw and pass.

From what I saw in the final I thought it was largely the playmakers' fault. They all seemed to run sideways instead of going straight at the line and engaging the defence - they just pushed their own backline into the sideline. The one time they did play "direct", the French captain scored easily.

And after watching a fair amount of the WC, I'd still much rather league. Would rather watch a sport where running the ball is the first option to gain territory, with kicking second. As opposed to the other way 'round in union.

Yeah but you also think Cooper is a good player ;)

let me know if he fails to stand up again, Australia lost the league world cup and the league Tri-nations and since its the halves jobs going by BHQ logic... Lockyer and Thurston both choked.

I've never seen Lockyer or JT play as badly during a series as Quade did during this World Cup.

No that would have been slater choking in the world cup and the refs missing a massive forward pass on the winning play.

The worse thing is, Slater/Aus Choked infront of a home crowd cheering them on...Not a hostile crowd in another country.

Also, Looks like Slater bounced back alright nothing to say Cooper won't.
