Round 9 - Warriors vs Broncos - Build Up Thread

They'll be missing a few players won't they?

F*** the ambush, it's only an ambush if they win.:shake: Broncos have never taken any sides lightly. That's a healthy thing we've learnt from the past from previous years where teams always seem to step up a cog when playing us. With the lesser sides this year it's seems to be the reverse though to some degree?
Think the Warriors will come out with clubs blazing first 10 - 20 mins but as long as we keep the faith and can stick with the game plan the kiwis will end up coughing it up in our favour.
Here's hoping for No.7:smile:

Not worried about this game at all. It won't define our season at all IMO. We struggle over there so a lose is pretty likely. That said we are the better team and should win.

This is how I feel. We should go over as favourites but NZ at home is always a tricky proposition and they always lift over there when we visit.

The next few weeks will probably define where we're at (Warriors, Sea Eagles and Storm). If we can stay competitive and jag a win going into the rep season I'll be more than satisfied.

Warriors and eagles are inconsistent and the storm are due for a loss. Good shot of getting 2/3

yeah i'm also not concerned about this game. warriors havent been impressive yet. we should win. if we don't, i wont be worried.

Hey guys, warriors fan here.

Why so many predictions for a loss here? Your start to the season has been about as good as you would have hoped for surely? By contrast our fringe defense is non existent, and we've used 4 fullbacks in 8 rounds - which has resulted in a scrappy 3 from 8 start. Your forward pack is probably the best in the comp and Wallace doesn't look to be missing Lockyer at all.

If the weather in Auckland doesn't turn to complete crap, I'd suggest the Broncs should be favourites. Will wait to see what the team lists are, but Locke is certain to be out, possibly Johnson also. Who knows what Krisnan is likely to dish up. We're certainly not brimming with confidence..

The pessimism is understandable really. We have been expecting our own bubble to burst at some stage. A team like the the Warriors can perform like the worlds finest RL team on occasions and it usually happens against name/quality sides. With our current side we can beat predictable teams but like most will struggle against the team which does that which is unexpected. We are pretty sure we will score points but it's the off the cuff play which scares us. We are not alone on that score. The Warriors lose a game and no-one is surprised no matter who they lost to but that is also true when they smash a good side, equally no-one is surprised. We all KNEW they could perform as such, irrespective of the opposition !!!

It's simply not knowing which Warriors outfit will turn up.

Last years finals series was a fine example of that...

Always a difficult trip, good to get it out of the way relatively early.

The Warriors will probably score a few freaky offload-inspired tries but their defence has been leaking so many points this season, I'd back our attack to outscore 'em. As duck said, their fringe defence is particularly ordinary - hopefully our great hole running backrowers can take advantage (Glenn, Te'o and Gillett especially). We're also a much tougher team than they are at the moment.

i just dont see us losing.

on a related note - whats the best pub on the inner south to watch this game, with sound (important). the locals around my area (aussie nash @ the gabba) dont have the greatest screens and play music rather than the commentary. easts leagues might be a goer?

haha yeah its a decent spot, i'm a member there. i've never been up there when a game has been on though, except this one night i wanted to watch footy and they had a neil diamond tribute night on and all the tv's were in the fenced off area.

Fair points.

The point I'd make though is that while the Warriors are capable on their day, we haven't seen enough this season (other than 60 mins against the Storm) to make us think we're capable of going toe to toe consistently. The main difference (from the stands) seems to be the defense. Under Cleary there was always a big emphasis on defense, which was then used to launch the attacking stuff from. That seems to have been lacking so far under McClennan.

I'm awaiting the Warriors team to be named to make any informed prediction. Btw I've launched a new Warriors forum and we're going to be getting fan based previews for games with (hopefully) opposition fan opinions/comments - as most fans tend to know a lot about their own team but can offer little insight into other teams. Does anyone have any objections to my quoting some of the build up stuff over on our site?

Gee that's a great lineup.

Best bench in the NRL too

Yep our bench would be walk up starters at any other club for sure.

Heard that Thaiday failed a fitness test. Should still play though.
