Round 14 - Roosters vs Broncos - Post Match Discussion

In fairness to him he was only giving the ppl with the "Reed it and weep" flag a bit of a wave, but it did look a touch dorky.

Speaking of flags can we all chip in and buy old love with the "justin credible" banner another one for when he is not playing?!?!

Wallace demonstrated yesterday why he should be Carney's halves partner, he was calm and didn't overplay in crap conditions and as usual came up with big defensive plays as well. He kicked smartly and his short passing game is becoming extremely dangerous, he also gave his 6 the ball where and when he wanted it. I just cannot believe NSW persist with Pearce.

Agree Brizz, Wallace just happened to get injured and because of their history in changing sides they probably felt compelled to stick with Pearce for game 2.

If they lose on Wed I have no doubt they will pick Wallace for Brisbane, they should pick him anyway IMO but they won't change a winning side.

I hope those that wanted us to sign a winger to replace Dane Gagai can now rest easily. Never doubt the depth and the system of this club. It has proven successful time and time again, and will do for many years to come. And I am not talking specifically about Maranta, it's all of our youngsters that also play a huge making our club so bloody awesome. And having spent a fair bit of my time watching more of them run around in the QCup this year, I can safely say it extends beyond what we have seen from them already. So good to be a Broncos fan!!

I am one of the biggest haters of the "spine" term, but ours rocks!!! Wallace is relishing the extra responsibility, Norman just keeps getting better, Hoffman is ready to take that next big step and McCullough is on the verge of becoming something really special IMO. I am one of his biggest critics but if he can find consistency in his performances then he may just be next in line for that Queensland #9 jersey when Smith decides to hang up the boots (long way down the track I realise).

I know a lot of people hate this Origin period for its impact on the club competition, but from another point of view it gives us a good look at the depth of our club. It gives them valuable first grade experience and a lot of confidence when they contribute heavily to a win.

And it really sucks that we are losing Te'o!

Yes after yesterday I am not as worried about our depth. Looks like we have plenty of forwards coming through and Maranta looked very solid.

Same here. I was very impressed with Dodds's tacking, in particular the way he chopped down the attacker with copybook tackles around the legs, but especially with the drive he put on so the attacker just dropped without a chance to offload.

Copley too impressed me, made lots of strong kick returns with great metres.

Agree on both points. It might take a bit of work to get Dodds to play to his full potential, but I think he's going to be a good player. He's a very good one-on-one tackler.

Copley's dummy half runs were brilliant in the second half I thought.

Copley is starting to remind me of Tate as a winger short but reasonably effective under the high ball but the real strength is in hard straight dummy half running and solid finishing. Needs to work on his positioning and hands in attack but he looks more and more at home in first grade and more comfortable as a winger because last year he looked pretty lost as a winger because quite clearly he was a centre coming through the grades.

Mate, Tate isn't short.

He's a bigger unit than most people think.

Neither of them are tall compared to a fair amount of modern day wingers yet they are both good jumpers and are confident under the high ball.

6 foot 1 is short now!?

copley played well, very happy to see that hes got something in him after his last few performances had been lackluster.

Copely has a really good step when he hits the line. He seems to get half way through most times. He will make a very good centre of he ever gets the chance.

Copley's been lacklustre? I think he's been very solid since his less than stellar effort against the tigers.

Maybe next year. He showed in the 2nd half a big increase in energy & intensity. He has real impact, and he can step.

If 6"1 is short then I must be midget. Well, more of midget...

All good Brizz I know what you're trying to say - Tate isn't by any means tall when you compare him to some of the tall wingers we have in the comp, and there's plenty of them. For a winger that isn't Tall, he's managed to play some outstanding safe football in the biggest arena of them all, State Of Origin.

Exactly Rocky, I reckon the majority of high ball contests Tate and Copley go into the guy they are jumping against is taller. They are not short people by any means but a lot of wingers these days are tall and coaches put these tall kids in because it is a cheap way to grab points if the more conventional methods aren't working.
