Pathetic effort.........with everything to play for..........and that was the best 'effort' we could serve up?

At least our pathetic performance was complimented well by pathetic refereeing.

It sucks that our season is practically over. Nobody had huge expectations going in, but still the thought is always sobering.

Focusing just on tonight, it was pretty clear we weren't up to it from the opening whistle. The boys were very lackadaisical in defence and were simply gifting Penrith with too many cheap penalties. Boys did well to fight back into it against the run of play but we were clearly fighting an uphill battle.

Nothing went our way in the second half but we weren't without our faults either. Just gifted Penrith too many cheap penalties and that effort from Tasi was outright pitiful. Fans will try and pin it on Lui, but watch it again and Tasi is the player who doesn't move at all and is caught out.

Plenty of negatives to come out of tonight, let's go with some positives.

Thought Oates & Kahu were for the most part very good tonight. Both were challenged constantly and aside from the one costly mistake from Kahu, they came up trumps each and everytime and did everything they could to get us back into the game.

Thought Gillett & Reed were easily our biggest threats down the left-hand side and the two stand outs.

Parker had a great second half after having a disappointing first, thought McGuire came up with some nice hits too.

Anthony Griffin's checklist for next season:

- Make Parker captain
- Kick Thaiday in the balls
- Hire a new defensive coach
- Sign Barba and Milford
- Stick with Hunt, he deserves more time
- Finally finish reading coaching for dummies

Yeah, he's been pretty good for the last 4-5 games..you know..with Hunt as a partner. Just ignore the fact that most of the 16-17 games BEFORE that were absolute shit.

He has a halfback alongside him now that works for him, I would have loved to see the combination if they played together all season.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree, he's been ordinary in defense, which we already knew would happen, and he started the season off poorly in his first ~6 or so games, but since then and especially in the last 2 months, he's been one of our best, more consistent than Hunt.

He did move, but he moved the wrong way. Which is more than what Thaiday did, why the hell was he so wide when were on our line?

Thaiday was probably marking up on another player. Tasi didn't or barely moved an inch. He's a big boppa and even the best of all time can make mistakes like that but tonight it was on him.

Boy Hunt played shit tonight, maybe we were too quick to jump the gun on him being the answer to our problems.. 6) Prince 7) Milford anyone?

TBF, the guys been coming off the bench for the last couple of seasons as a hooker. He's not used to 80mins of football. It's that simple. It's very telling, IMO, that when he was given the postion he was great at the start but slowed after a few games. His body isn't conditioned for the full 80. I have faith that he'll be far better next year.

Also, is Jordan Kahu SLOWER than Maranta? I think his knee must still be severely bothering him, we have some awesome backs, it's a shame they're all slower than forwards.

Yeah, a full preseason in the role will do a world of good for the team.

No but Sam doesn't need it next to his name, Parker needs to be handed the side IMO

i remember reading not long after Thaiday was named captain, Parker say that the right man got the job ... if he doesn't think he is the right man, why should he be captain. let him just focus on his game.

Yeah, I heard you the first time. Watch it again, he barely moved an inch and Segs is the player he's supposed to be marking.

Too many errors. Too many missed tackles. Too many penalties. Simple as that.

I don't, I hate the way he has stood back and let Prince control the game, he wants to be the half, he should be running the attack and working to what he wants.

Kahu has been in and out this season with injury, combined with the past two seasons of problems and I doubt his running at full steam, hopefully he can get through the rest of the season and have a clean off season and that will help.

Now that we've all had a couple of minutes to come to terms with the fact that our season is officially over, does anyone honestly believe that we would have beaten any of the top 8 sides during the first round of finals?

Of course not.

We sucked this year but by missing the eight we should at least see some changes/signings/improvements in 2014.

Where the **** is FaithinHook anyway? I need some of his words of encouragement.

he was also quite obviously limping as they were shaking hands tonight
