Well if Hook gets sacked for Bennett, he will be able to play his favourites (i.e. Reed) because he wont have to worry about his job.

anyway time for sleep. hopefully when i wake up in the morning, i'll find out it was all a bad dream. as the only thing worse than Hook keeping his job (that could realistically happen) is Bennett returning as head coach.

Why are you so sure that Bennett likes reed so much, have they even met?

I've been watching Bennett for over 20 years. Reed is exactly the TYPE of player than Bennett loves

Reed is defensively good but fucking slow. What other centres has Bennett had (by choice, not during injury periods or when better options were available) that fit that description?

If Hook stays, Reed stays.

The way I see it, Reed stays anyway. However, I would prefer to have a bloke that has the ability to get the best out of his players than a bloke that couldn't organize a root in a brothel.

This feels so wrong. Despite my bagging of Hook what is going down just seems wrong.

Dobbo from MMM has just stated that Moose McGuire has come out and said that if Hook goes...so will he.

There might be more that will want to leave also.

This could get pretty messy.

If Bennett comes back and in this underhanded fashion it will be this proud clubs lowest day. Bennett is not the messiah anymore there are far better modern coaches now bringing him in solves nothing and risks tearing a talented nucleus of players apart. Griffin needs to go but not like this and not for Bennett.

I've read this morning that Griffin has been sacked. Dunno how true it is, I guess we'll wait and see.

You want Hook to stay coach?

Then play better. Win a premiership. He will be here for the rest of your career.

This is a pretty bad look for the club. Underhanded dealings is why so many having falling outs with Wayne.

I agree with the last few posters. These shenanigans are the type of thing I would expect from a bottom of the league rabble, not the most successful team in the NRL.

Sorry, I've missed what the underhanded dealing is.

Can someone explain that to me, please.

The thing that has me nervous about Wayne is that I do feel this club has been building towards something. The frustrating thing about Hook is that it's taking longer than it should have but bringing in a new coach may risk it falling apart.

I definitely don't want any players from Newcastle to follow him, except maybe Gagai or Uate for depth.

Okay then, Kearney takes over as head coach.

I just thought of that this morning and i think that may be a reality now (if Hooks has been sacked). not many sacked coaches finish out the year.

and before people come out and say things like "yeah but it doesn't have to happen". this is reality and it will if hooks leaves immediately.

Dobbo from MMM has just stated that Moose McGuire has come out and said that if Hook goes...so will he.

Thats alright, we can lose McGuire and Bennett can continue his sign anyone over 30 policy and bring Mason with him.

------------

I heard Parker on the radio this morning and it seems like he knows nothing about it... so if it has happened, then the board have kept both the club CEO (from all reports) and the club captain in the dark about this.

that is NOT how a professional club acts. our professionalism as a club is one of the things that has set us apart from other clubs.

------------

I hope the Sydney media have leaked this, so that the deal falls through, similar to what happened when the Bennett to Roosters deal was leaked.

-------------

I also hope i'm wrong and that Bennett not only wins us a premiership, which many of you just assume he will. but the club can actually move on from him next time and were not set back all the efforts we have made over the last 6 years to move on from him. but i fear that when he retires we will have to start from scratch again and every new coach gets compared to Bennett.

The deal being done without the CEO being aware of it for starters. Wayne ringing Lachlan Murdoch to organize a deal.

IMO Bennett returning can't hurt, and I see it as a plus. He knows the club, he knows what needs to be done. I think Hook has been useless since he put a Broncos jersey on, so a change is good.

If he brings Boyd with him, well I don't care, it might finally mean we see the back of Hoffman.

That's not dodgy, it's business. He rang the guy with the most voting power, and who he has the best relationship with.

As i said in another thread, the best way to get over your ex, isnt trying to get back with them, its to sleep with someone else. Getting bennett back is fucking stupid, and thats putting it nicely
