Spot on mate...........Won a title with the dragons..........and was one game of the GF with the knights last year......Singling out this season as a cross on bennett's name is a little silly. In my eye's it was a write-off season, with tinkler fucking shit up and then alex getting injured.

I'm on the fence personally both sides of the arguments have strong arguments for and against. I understand the perspective of needing to move on from Bennett but Declining the opportunity for Bennett and not having a realistic replacement for Griffin in sights presents it's own concerns and I have yet to see a real alternative presented let alone linked that is actually available which either means we stick with griffin or look to the absolute last minute for one and even then there is no certainty on who it is nor if it's even a better one.

We need to face facts ... if the board weren't planning for Griffin leaving since the middle of last year some time, then they were asleep at the wheel.
Hell this forum has a sack Griffin thread that is 200 pages long and started early last year. so how the hell did the board not see that they had to start sourcing a long term replacement

Foordy I know where your coming from but the alternatives have yet to even been presented and that to me is concerning, I want whoever is going be coaching to be in place for the preseason not just a last minute rush job, I'm in no way pushing for Bennett just yet either all I'm saying is we need this resolved asap.

unfortunately if the media are to be believed we are not even looking at alternatives,
but i do agree with you i want it resolved ASAP.
I want the new coach in place for the pre-season, but starting to plan for any aditional recruiting we need now.
I just wish that coach wasn't Bennett. and I Pray that if it is, he leaves those Knights nuffies down there, instead of bringing them with him

I think that while WB may not be number 1 in the coaching world, he is still in the top echelon of coaches. At this stage imo Griffin still sits in the bottom half of NRL coaches, and not showing signs of rising much higher. If a top coach not named WB was coming I think most people would be pretty happy, apart from haters who gotta hate. I think from memory when Bennett left, for whatever reason, it was rushed and no succession plan was in place. I don't see this happening this time, I think/hope this time the intention is to right the ship and leave it full steam ahead this time. Also, there is fears of Bennett ball and Griffin ball being the same game, but I don't see it. I think Bennett actually works a game plan to suit the team he has. In the 90s he had players with high speed and skill, and those teams were spectacular to watch. Unlimited interchange changed the game for a while, so Broncos adapted to a power game. By mid to late 2000s, we had a balance of the two, and the game plan changed with it. When he moved to the dragons, his game plan suited the team. As someone else pointed out, last year he was a game from the GF, this year for many reasons has been a right off for the knights. I think if he is back next year we will see a game plan that suits the strengths of the team.
