Wow this is fucked. Bennett must be shitting himself. His balls to the wall plan did not take into account season ending injuries to his favourite son.

Countdown until Round 26, 2015 season review interview with WB:

"Well, you can't help the bad luck we had this year with injuries"

Is our pre-season talk ever going to not be centred around a deficieny in either our halves or our fullback?

This is 2014 all over again :-(

It would be nice to see someone like Taylor come into play if they moved Milford but I'd be afraid he'd be an absolute turnstile in D.

The thing is though, if we're long term planning on Milford in 6, I don't see the point in delaying it 12 months - it's clearly going to happen so let's just get the damn thing started, the sooner he adjusts to it, the better for him and for us long term.

Agree with that.

Put Hodges outside him at 1. Though he is pretty shit under the high ball/not a natural fullback and over the course of a year I can see his low percentage plays adding up to some inconsistency.

What would be boss is

1. Hodges
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Copley
5. Oates

2 big men doing the kick return work for Hodgo.

He sure is! But he has been removed from this thread

Trading Barba and Hoffman for Boyd at the expense of "depth" was never an AP argument though.

Barba could have equally done his achilles in the off-season.

Problem with that is by taking Hodges out of centre, we probably have the worst centre pairing in the NRL, maybe only worse than Sharks. Reed is just useless and Copley, while he started on fire last year, showed towards the end of the year (in defence especially) hes not quite up to most NRL centre's standards. That 1 - 5 is pretty bad tbh, definitely doesnt strike any fear into opposition.

Hodges is so lazy at the back too, how many times did opposition put in grubbers and he would just lazily try and grab it without going to ground etc.

And Hodgo is bound to be injured for at least 2/3s of the games this season.

We shouldn't weaken the centres or halves for a stop gap option at Fullback, this could be a blessing in disguise.. gives Milford and Hunt a full season together in the halves with a little bit less pressure on them to win a premiership together in their first season (with Boyd out I assume we'll be knocked way down the premiership odds)

It also gives us a chance to see what someone like Kahu or Eden can do at Fullback.

I'm not saying we should just completely right off the season already because of one injury.. but I think we can relax a bit now, give these young guys plenty of time to find themselves.

You are both fantastic human-beings

Bennett curse. Haven't even kicked off a fucking trial and this soft **** is fucked.

The Broncos 2015 is even more laughable.

**** Darius Boyd. **** Wayne Bennett.

I don't know why, but I find this absolutely hilarious. I should be really fucking pissed off, but the thought of all the Boyd & Bennett haters salivating is just too much.
Speaking for myself, I am not salivating at all. This can't be blamed on anyone, and it's a fucking horrible injury for Darius. I hope he recovers quickly and well.

Having said that, this could have a silver lining with one of the youngsters (Jikorima, Taylor) or perhaps Kahu stepping up.

I would personally give Kahu the chance to make a claim at the back, otherwise move Milford to FB and get one of Taylor / Jikorima into the team.
With a bit of luck, we might gain an awesome winger in Boyd when he returns...

So....Barba gets the last laugh?

I would say he certainly does. We let him go under very dubious circumstances for Boyd and now we have 500k of our cap sitting on the sideline for an entire season.

Karma?

Re: So....Barba gets the last laugh?

The other two threads on this topic weren't quite on the nose enough huh?

Re: So....Barba gets the last laugh?

Is this a serious question? Or just another excuse to whinge about Barba getting the flick?

No it isn't karma and we wouldn't be any better off with Benny Barba here.

Aye? Of course we'd be better off. We'd at least have a fullback!

Hello - have not been saying much on here lately but have been watching - with Boyd out now for 6 months or longer my mind has been going over all the options and searching for someone who is proven at NRL level - who can attack with speed - who can tackle very well - who can take a high ball - and most importantly who can pass a ball both ways and who has football brains - Yes I know your thinking I am talking about my best mate Jack Reed but sadly I am not - My perfect replacement is Dale Copley
Yes I would have had him at left centre in place of Reed but given Bennett has told him to go find a yard or 2 of pace and speed and he will be drilling in the defensive work into him as well
so backline would be Copley - Reed - Vidot - Hodges - Kahu or whoever - Milford and Hunt and if Reed does not scrub up then I am sure Bennett will blood a newby from somewhere
