He so nearly broke the drought in his first year back with us. There is a chance that WB may never bring us another premiership. I predict that if we do not win the big prize in the next 2 years he will call it quits..

I also predict that if we were to win it this year or the next year he would retire from the Broncos immediately after and I wouldn't blame him for that at all. I'd be stoked for him and for us.

What do you all think?

I don't think he would retire until the end of his contract.

At the moment, we have no one that has been groomed to take over.

Oh good, when is he contracted till?

Life after Bennett... Bellamy maybe?... lol. I'm going to bed.

I think it was originally meant to be Walters but he took the QLD gig.

Perhaps Jason Demetriou will be groomed to take over.

Think Wayne is chasing 2 more years after this so bit not yet finalised. so with super freak for 2019. Wayne will go when he wants - as much as I like him, it's all about Wayne.

Not many coaches seem to be queuing up for the job these days which is a shame even those at other clubs seem happy to stay there and not many seem that keen to be assistant as Wayne just sticks in there and aspiring coaches feel like they'll just die on the vine....only my thoughts here...Hopefully the new facility helps with attracting the best.

Demetriou seems to be a good prospect and excellent man manager so hope he goes well.

Wayne will keep doing it as long as his brain is functioning properly. Having endured what life is like when he isn't at the Bronco's helm, I am really cool with that.

Wayne Bennett has worn out his welcome in Brisbane just a year into his second coming, with increasing talk he has lost connection with the playing group and is at war with the local media.
Bennett has told leading media figures he won't be doing any interviews this year and will only front up at designated all-in sessions that the NRL requires him to attend.
Bennett feels he has been burnt by the Brisbane media, and it relates to the breakdown of his marriage and his new relationship. The local media went hard – when most outlets gave the story a wide berth – at least initially. Bennett has always had a difficult relationship with the media, but it hasn't adversely affected his coaching. But it could get personal now, and the media is well aware of the location of his new multi-million-dollar home.
You get the distinct feeling it's gloves off. It will be very interesting to see if Bennett's stance drips into the playing ranks. Bennett has been attacked before and used it to his advantage. He likes to become the story to protect his players. It's part of what makes him a great coach.
But the concern is that one of his strengths – his ability to connect with his players – is dissipating. Sources close to the playing group say this is the case.
The players admired Bennett because they knew where he stood. That has been eroded. Bennett has always been aware of how he wants to be perceived and the mystique he likes to project. And even though he gives the impression that he is not bothered by the perception of others, he is very aware of it.

Bennett lost a great mate and trusted advisor in Ron Massey last year. Massey was one of his true friends and someone Bennett listened to. There is a concern that Bennett is rudderless and some in the rugby league fraternity are wondering if he is in danger of withering on the coaching vine.
Close friends have distanced themselves from the master coach. Bennett has made a career out of proving people wrong.
A test for Bennett will be his ability to bring in a quality half. This column suggested Kieran Foran would be a good fit - and Bennett - if focused - would be good for Foran.

Rudderless ? Weidler would know all about that. He still cleaning koder Nasser cum stains off his chin.

Gutter trash journalism at its best. The old "a source close to the playing group"..... Its a deadset made up story and you can take that as a fact. Wayne has lost nobody in the playing group and if history is a guide, Wayne will use this type of journalism as the catalyst for a big year ahead. It's the us against them mentality that Bennett thrives on.

Joe knows it. The playing group will be laughing at this shite in a training session sometime this week. The media love proving that even after all these years, they still don't know a thing about Wayne Bennett. I bet that thought drives them insane, especially certain weedlers.

Weidler... makes Slothfield look credible.

Wait. "Only a year in to his second coming?".

Awesome. Love these articles. Perfect timing too.

Last year suggested there was a disconnect in the Broncos ranks somewhere.

Hopefully it was just the team having a bad year and all of those rumours weren't true.
