If Bennett can bring out Carney's best, that would restore my faith in a premiership for next season provided we sign a couple of forwards.

Absolutely. I hated Carney because he was such a tool. Just had nothing between the ears and obviously was able to just do what he pleased and the Raiders would cover it up or make excuses for him, therefore never learned to grow up or think about his actions, let alone take responsibility for them. But he's not a deadshit like Fifita or Lodge. I'd probably see more parallels with James Roberts.

He took the Roosters to the 2010 Grand Final and is an undeniable talent. I'd support us signing him 100%.

I wouldn't mind picking up Jackson Hastings and JNik on small wages either. See if they could reach their potentials.

Age isn't much of an issue.

It's not like when you turn 30 you just suddenly forget how to play footy. We would only be signing him for a year so I don't see any issue.

What I like about Carney is that he is a competitor. He isn't a fat little shit that has a sook and takes an age to play the ball and goes missing. He gets stuck in and when he is in form, he is a bloody good player.

The biggest and only concern is whether he can stay out of trouble. But if he can and Wayne can get the best out of him, I think he would be a great signing.

Just have to keep him away from Lodge and Roberts on Mad Monday.

So next year we could have a halves merry go round again. We seriously need to settle on a 6 & 7

@Smokin' Joe could well be onto something with carney. (he is rarely wrong)
i did some digging around and it seems it came down to a choice of 3, jnik, hastings or carney.
drums are beating strongly for a 1yr deal for todd, he is dirt cheap and has the experience required to fill the 7 jumper until the 2019 season.
im not saying its a dead certainty but that seems to be the mail as noted by @Smokin' Joe
he is a risk in my opinion but only needs to keep it together for 12 months!!! surely that can be achieved

Do we only need him for a year because we are getting Taylor back?

Me either. Albert Kelly has totally out played him. He looked really ordinary whenever i see him play.

It was going to happen regardless.

It seems the Broncos are just biding their time until they can go after Taylor.

I'd be right on board with Carney. Great player, and Bennett can get the best out of him. He's 32 next year, that's not even close to too old for a half, speed was never his asset, if anything the maturity would only improve his game.

I thought his running game was his strong point ?

as bad as it sounds carney is the best performed of the 3 - kicking game is prob what wayne is chasing on a short term basis.
jayden isnt big enough and doesnt provide a settled 7 option, hastings is a different cat all together!!! its a big no for him from me and a big no for nikorima as well.
long term view for me - i would not bring ash taylor back!!! i would go elsewhere or invest heavily in paix. i think he can play grade at a young age

Jackson Hastings has skill but is just acts like a spoilt little shit, so that's a no from me.
Carney I'm on board give him the train and trial like he wants and go from there. If Carney is willing to do the hard yards and has a level head im happy having him as our Halfback.
