Apparently Wayne has been hiding out in the Qantas club waiting for the media to clock off.

The media have been there all day to "celebrate" him. **** off with that bullshit.

When Bennett was leaving Brisbane, he was stopped by a reporter and you could hear Wayne say he knew what the ending would be..

At least I am pretty sure that's what he said. Interesting choice of words.

All good, we’re allowed to have different views.

It’s certainly very understanding of you. I can safely say that I’m not as understanding of this mess. This whole thing could have been handled so much better by everyone involved.

So based on that, I guess I’m not willing to give Bennett a free pass. Same applies to all involved though to be honest.

I certainly agree that everyone could have done better

It seems there are many on here (not saying you) that are blaming Bennett for the whole thing

I just think it's more likely that there's an element of blame across WB, AS, and both clubs

At some point all parties involved could have done better probably

So I don't really want to give Wayne a free pass, but I don't want to give anyone a free pass

Equally I don't think it's right to vilify Bennett when there's likely blame across all people involved :)

@JAHHW also nice to have a civil discussion on it without it degenerating into mindless drivel and personal potshots :)

Agreed.
It’s good to discuss things in a mature way, particularly with those that might not share your view.
If everyone was like me, thought like me and had the same opinions as me, what an awful place it’d be!
:meparto:

But did we "get it wrong" and should we (in your words) still need to "admit" that we got it wrong..?
No.
No, you don't have to admit you got it wrong as the claim that WB would not coach the Bronco's in 2019 turned out to be correct.

Can somebody post the latest article on Facebook declaring that the players were the people who forced Bennett out of the club ?

Bennett axed after player revolt

DECEMBER 03, 2018The Brisbane Broncos were facing a player revolt unless they sacked Wayne Bennett on Sunday.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal members of the club’s leadership group contacted chief executive Paul White and chairman Karl Morris over the weekend to express their concerns about issues including The Sunday Telegraph story that Bennett had been secretly collaborating with Rabbitohs players and staff.
They demanded an immediate resolution after weeks of uncertainty. And that was the end of it.

After a phone hook-up among board members, it was decided to sack the seven-time premier coach.
He will walk away with $300,000 of his $1 million contract.
Once Bennett had lost the full support of the players that was it.
Broncos chairman Karl Morris refused to confirm the board had been swayed by the players.
However other sources revealed it was spot on.
“The players have always just wanted a solid and steady platform to perform to the best of their ability,” Morris said, “What players don’t? “They want to win the premiership.”

The names of the players who contacted White and Morris are being kept a closely guarded secret.
None of them wanted Bennett’s reign to end so bitterly and will not speak publicly.
It is unclear if skipper Darius Boyd, who has been like a son to Bennett, was among them.
Others on the leadership group include Andrew McCullough, Matt Gillett, Alex Glenn and Joe Ofahengaue.
Obviously Morris and White have to be protective of the players.
“Myself and the board take full accountability for the end result,” White said.
“That’s not to say we haven’t been communicating with the players
“I think the reaction of players will be very positive. I don’t say that out of any disrespect to Wayne, it’s just been the events over the last six months have been disruptive.
“We couldn’t afford to go through another week of what we went through last week, let alone the remainder of the pre-season.
“The decision gives us the ability to move forward. Players require certainty.”

I guess that’s a good thing. If the players were 100% behind Bennett, they could have seen Seibold’s leaked email as the catalyst for Wayne to be sacked. That wouldn’t have been a good way to endear himself to his future playing squad.

Not sure the players demanding some resolution means they weren't behind Bennett or Seibold. They are all as sick of this whole thing as everyone else.

Yeah, that's what I took out of it tbh. Crazy bastards.....wanting resolution.

Looks like Daniel O’Dowell was on the money re: Wayne’s missus’ news...

This is really what pisses me off the most. Wayne’s missus was rolling her business up well in advance. We have coaching staff on both sides making their kids cry by telling them they are moving, and then recanting, and then telling them again. Senior Broncos staff being disgusted that Wayne was lying about moving on when they had been working hard negotiating for exactly that.
I love the game for the sport. The contact, the tactics under extreme physical pressure, the skill, the courage and the brilliance. They had better provide bucketloads of all those things next year to make up for this exposure of how overpaid and under skilled the people who run my game really are.

Yep. Bennett has shamed himself here and for mine has showed a lot of what his detractors have said over the years to be true. He has lost me.

Me too.
Makes me jump right into the corner for guys like Kent. He's always had a vendetta against Wayne I was always pissed at. But now, it seems he always known little bits and pieces about private behind the scenes stuff just like this that has conflicted with his morals.
Then bennett saying stuff like "the journalist made it up" when clearly something was said. Purposefully trying to assassinate his credibility as a journalist.

I'm all for him playing games up until the point it's hurting innocent parties like people's kids and families.

I think you missed the point. There is hypocrisy there in the club actively looking to move Wayne on, and then showing concern for the fact that Wayne was making plans in case that outcome did come to fruition.
