The way Farah has his forwards chiming in both sides of the ruck is scary, he will tear as apart through the middle next week.

Michael Lichaa and Andrew McCullough are the worst hookers in the comp. If Dean Pay can dump his starting hooker, why can't our coach do the same?

What is this obsession with blaming White for recruitment/retention or game day selections etc...

This is on the coach .... They get the teams they want ...

And in Macca's case it is 1000% on Bennett.

Recruitment White plays a part. he's there at every meeting with Lockyer, Seibold, Nolan and Louise Lanigan.

I dont think White would have much input though when it comes to the footballing ability or suitability of the player for what the coach wants, it would be more for the financial side wouldnt it?

That's Lanigan, she's there to shake her head and say nope. She's in charge of the cap and has been for a long time.

As well as having a good business brain people forget White has been around football his whole life. He was assistant coach at your mob, Queensland U17 coach and Emerging staff.

He knows a player.

The club's CEO being part of the recruitment/retention discussions is a problem? That will do me.

Whether white is part of the problem I will wait and see how his latest recruitment decision ie appointing Seibold turns out. (I firmly believe that was primarily his call and that he should ‘own’ the result).
As for the rest I believe there are too many ‘cooks’ as it were on the committee. Lockyer obviously has to be there as long as he has genuine input and is not there just as a figurehead but I don’t know what (if any) rugby league expertise and ability to assess talent/potential any of the rest bring.
Judging by some of the posts on this forum quite a few people think some of their previous decisions haven’t been all that flash.
In any case there just looks to be too many.

How is it too many? Who is surplus?

A board member, A CEO, the coach, head recruiter and the salary cap advisor.

Seems pretty well balanced to me. You're working years in advance not just on your list of 30 this year, No one person has the time to do that on their own or the expertise.

They all contribute different things to the list management.

I very much doubt this was the setup all the time when Bennett was coach and he delivered 6 premierships and nearly a seventh.
If Seibold can be similarly successful I am happy to be proven wrong.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Saying didn't do that way in 1988 is not really the way to have success. Broncos only had two full time football staff in 1988 too- do that again?

The salary cap is a lot more complicated now than 1992 and recruitment a lot wider and more depth.

Maguire is gonna have the tigers revved up after they threw away the win last night against Penrith. The following week we play the raiders in Canberra, then the sharks and rabbits. I am really not confident about winning any of these to be honest.

I feel like the broncos definitely have more points in them than the tigers. It just depends which players turn up

We didn’t have a salary cap for 5 of those 6 premierships iirc

I am the first to admit things were different back then but I also recall how we were able to pick up Lazarus because Canberra were over the ‘cap’ albeit in a different form than it is today and had to let him go. If there was no cap as it were we likely would never have got him and he was an important part in us winning our early premierships.
I don’t believe we ever ‘bought’ any of our premierships.

I like a lot of this post but would add that Lodge, standout that he has been would not be my choice for captain. Not that he's a bad person or for his past indiscretions but after watching his interviews he just didn't strike me as being very bright. I know that seems judgemental and or condescending but that's not what I'm going for. He just seems to be the sort of person who processes things very slowly. I mean a comparison between him and say Lockyer or Cam Smith would highlight what I'm trying to say. I don't want posters to think I've set out to denigrate Lodge, I just don't think he's got the 'smarts' for the job.
I totally see what you’re saying, and I could very well be wrong, but I would disagree.

He’s definitely done some dumb things, but when I listen to him, it’s clear he has come from a decent home and is quite articulate. I tend to think he is more the quiet, nervous type with the media. This could be his personality, or a barrier he puts up to protect himself against some of the vitriol he’s copped over the last few years.

Now when I think dumb front rowers, I think Dave Taylor.

Anyway, I think he could be the Gorden Tallis type leader rather than the Lockyer type leader. Will that work for this team, I’m not so sure, but I’d be willing to give it a go!

I would like to see this team vs Wests

1. Bird
2. Oates
3. Boyd
4. Staggs
5. Isaako
6. Milford
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Macca.....:(
10. Offahengaui
11. Gillet
12. Fafita
13. Carrigan ( Give the lad his shot)

14. Nikorima
15. Haas
16. Flegler
17. Glen

Bare minimum changes needed imo

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Bird
4. Roberts /staggs
5. Isaako
6. Milf
7. Kodi
8. Lodge
9. Macca
10. Taga
11. Glenn
12. Gillo
13. Offa

Flegler & sua to qcup to play bigger minutes for fitness . Flegler hasn't done anything wrong but I think these young forwards need to be rotated, sua needs to get back some form.

Ok my bad. I was a little kid, thought the cap came in after super league and the broncos super team in the late 90s
