I agree with some here.. Good riddance. Roberts was real good to watch when he had his head in the game but.... more often than not just didn't turn up. For mine we should get rid of Bird as well.. useless for our team and cost a packet. In my humble opinion we should be like the old days and develop our own youngsters instead of the NSW ring ins. I Bennett had not payed overs for these guys we would have the money in our salary cap to keep our great young talent. I don't care if it takes a few seasons to get the young Queenslanders in the Broncos feeders up to NRL standards, Mr Seibold should also look at some of the better UK players if he wants to bring in experienced talent.. it has not worked so well for us in the past but other clubs have been very successful going down that road. Also just a point I would like to make to the Seibold haters... early last year Souths were an undisciplined rabble and it was Anthony Seibold who cemented that team together and made them the good team Bennett walked right into.... He didn't build Souths to what they are today Seibold did. Given a fair go and I believe he can do the same for our young side.

We will be chipping in for Moose until his contract at the Broncos would have ended. Not sure when that was though.
I was under the impression he asked for the release to sign a longer deal of the same (or more) value. Why would we be chipping in?

Technically, when any player moves they generally have to " ask " for a release because it's illegal to get tapped up. We kind of told Moose he wasn't wanted, so we are chipping in. How long that lasts I don't know, but we certainly are for this year and i have a feeling next year as well.

Any in our top 30 look like ready candidates?

Do we get to bring someone from outside the top 30 in now that Roberts has left? If so, I wonder who will get that spot. From the little that I have seen from Herbie Farnworth he seems to go alright and has some speed. 3 tries, 5 goals and 214 metres a couple of weeks ago. 9 tries in 11 starts this season for Norths Devils, plenty of line breaks and tackle busts. He's on a rookie contract this year and was meant to move to top 30 next year, but maybe he could be upgraded early, though I don't know how all this stuff works.

Why would we be chipping in for Moose? He requested the release much like Kahu, Niko and Roberts.

He’s on development list afaik, can be selected to play after June 30, but pretty sure we need to fill the roster spots first. So either we sign guys or upgrade the dev players early

if we have space in the top 30, we are allowed to sign any available player any time until June 30 (as long as we have the cap space of course).

after that we wouldn't be able to, but we can use the players in our development squad as much as we want

Why am I not surprised at the news. Good riddance to bad attitude I say.

Jimmy waxing lyrical about coming 'home' to Souffs is a side splitter. I bet all the mug punters have already forgot why he left Souffs the first time.

Well at least we know which side to attack when we play them up here, that's provided he is still running around by then. To be honest though - I don't think he'll make the end of the season.

Imagine that attitude back in Sydney, imagine that attitude when he's around a familiar bunch on the grog, imagine that attitude when Mundane gets into his ear!

i think it will all end in tears. Siebs did the right thing by telling him to shape up or ship out.

It really does ring of Barba take two. Only this time Siebs gave Roberts a chance to shape up unlike Bennett who just shipped Barba out. Bennett was proven right and I think so will Siebs be proven right. The big difference is Siebs way we ain't paying squat for Roberts like we paid for Barba.

I think this is a benefit of having a coach who has the contract length to play the long game.

The Broncs now have cap space to re-sign all the key young guns and clear pathways into first grade for guys like Coates (he could well make it next season).

Next season or thereafter, throw the kitchen sink at Ponga.

1. Ponga
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Coates
5. Farnsworth
6. Milford
7. Dearden
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Lodge
11. Fifita
12. Gillett
13. Carrigan

14. Segeyaro/Paix
15. TPJ
16. Flegler
17. Bullemor

This is a pretty good side in a year or two.

Once again, please stop peddling the lie that WB PAID PLAYERS. He was not responsible for what players were paid nor was he responsible for the duration of contracts. Stick to the truth please. Responsibility for those things lay with the board.
