Why has nobody brought up the important issues? What happens with the forum bet? Surely as reigning champions we win by default? Put the hard word on those sheepshaggers, demand it. Everybody hates us anyway.

Mate, I am not picking on you nor DONT intend to offend you in any way but your avatar picture suggests that you might be the guy who sits next to Seibold in the coaches box. Are you the same guy by any chance?

Tom is the one who actually brought him up first on here a couple of months back too lol.

Reading a few comments about Isaako. Sure I had a few beers but I seriously can’t remember seeing him at all. Like literally 0 times.

You clearly are anti Boyd. It wouldnt matter what he does you would find a reason to bag him. He made a break, he had no support, probably saw Herbie trying to make up ground out on the left and went for it. It was the right decision imo, but the execution that was off. Even if he passed the ball backwards and we scored, you would more then likely say it wasnt because of anything he did. There have been plenty of more valid reasons to criticise him this year, tonight isnt one of them.

And i still dont think even the four blokes you mentioned second time around are any better examples. 3 of them for a start are natural halves and game managers. Boyd isnt and never has been that type of player. I'm not sure where you think Hodges fits in. He starred fleetingly for us at fullback, but his main impact was in the centers, he was hardly a career spine player who set up teams to win in clutch moment when a field goal was needed.

I agree with all of this, except Boyd should have just taken that tackle. Even if he had a support player, which he didn’t, he didn’t even look before he threw that pass. I understand his intention, but it was the wrong play, at that exact moment.

I have been critical of him and that was the wrong decision, but I don’t crucify him for it. He tried to win us the game, but it wasn’t on. TPJ’s 2 back to back penalties were far more damaging, without them, we probably win 18-16, yet he gets a pass mark, while Boyd doesn’t...

But Boyd is the captain, a 300 + game veteran, a truly decorated rep player and should have known that play wasn’t on. It didn’t cost us the game, it ‘may’ have cost us a win and it wasn’t the worst mistake made by us in those final minutes.

But it was a mistake and I don’t think it’s too much to ask of our captain and easily most experienced player, that he not make the same sort of mistakes our rookies are making...

That last 5-10 minutes of Macca in the first half was some of the most inept dummy half play I've ever seen in a game of football.

Get used to it. As unpalatable as it may seem, he seems to be the ‘rock’ around which the club has chosen to build the team...

Only injury or sheer desperation mid-game seems to affect this mindset...

The boyd line break/Milford support was interesting. I think old milford would have put himself in a position to support boyd however, maybe having to play the controlling half for a while he has come accustommed to having to play the higher percentage play (which was probably look for the field goal after the tackle). If he is to play fullback he may have to "relearn" his natural game and leave the game management to the halves (well when we eventually have natural halves). That pass from boyd though was poor form.

Milford at FB has potential but he needs to work on his positioning and the effort to stop luke's try could have been better. I know our team is patchworked at the moment but i would like to see us use the ball though. We havent really done anything different (structure/style) to benefit from the positional change yet

Impressed with herbie so far. I think coates is still a bit off regular first grade. That right side will be a real target for teams if it remains turpin, coates and isaako.

After watching the replay, the thing I liked was that the effort was there. Yeah a better team would have beaten us but we weren't playing a better team.

This is the type of game we would have lost a few weeks ago. But the past couple of weeks the effort has been there and we've found a way to fight our way back into the game and put ourselves in a position to win.

Attack wise, we were average but look at the spine. This week would have been the first time that spine has trained together and we have two players playing in the halves that aren't even halves so the attack was about what you would expect for a spine such as ours.

We just got to take the good from the bad and build on that. In a couple of weeks we should start getting some troops back.

This season very much reminds me of 2007.

If I'm ever after a conversation about Boyd that's tainted by desperately wanting to be right 5 years ago, I'll make sure to discuss it with you.
Sure, you can make up all the shit you want, but I've criticised Boyd as much as I've credited him when he deserved it. I've never seen anything but excuses from you though...
Had the player in this case had a no. 9 on his jersey and a last name ending in Cullough, you would've crucified him.

You can take comfort that your defense of Boyd is better than his defense as Fullback has been the last couple of years... 👍

I am a 100% Boyd hater, can't wait until he is gone but he had a decent game, even with his 5m* forward pass on the 4th when it mattered. He actually did lead as a captain with his on field performance. But still I see no place for him in the team with these young fellas coming through, especially if siebold keeps Milford at FB. 2 more years? I don't think so.

Also Isaako, sorry but your goal kicking shouldnt keep you in the team.

I don't blame Boyd for throwing that pass.

It would have very very likely resulted in a try if he got it right. There was a lot of space for Herbie and Staggs. If you have a try scoring opportunity, you take it regardless of what time it is in the game. Even Langer, Walters, Locky and any other half we've had in our history would have thrown a pass in that situation.

It was an ugly game but if you remove Macca (or greatly reduce his game time) and have a better right edge (no Coates), we win that game quite comfortably.

No coincidence that we started playing with enthusiasm as soon as Seggy came on.
Coates is a talent but isn’t ready yet defensively. That side leaked all night as it did the week before.

A lot to be positive about though.

Haas, TPJ, Lodge were immense (dumb penalties aside).

Milford is starting to loom great at fullback and will only improve once he has some halves so he doesn’t have to play 3 spine positions at once.

If we move Turpin back to starting hooker, drop Macca, get more experienced right side backs and and two halves that only need to do the basics, we trouble any side.

With everyone fully fit we could have this line up which I think would’ve dominated today:

1. Milford
2. Oatea
3. Staggs
4. Bird
5. Farnworth
6. SoS
7. Dearden
8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Flegler

14. Seggy
15. Offa
16. Fafita
17. TPJ

Spot on. The pass was absolutely on and the boys would definitely have been calling for it. it was the execution that let him down. If he didn't they're it forward, they score. Game over
