Broncos can turn this in to a positive. They can show David our financial clout and just pay a 4-figure sum to get him out of there ASAP and with minimal fuss. Get him back to Australia on a discreet flight, likely not direct to Brisbane as that would be too easy for the media (maybe to elsewhere in the country and then a private charter back to Bris), treat him as the victim while making sure he NEVER does it again. And make sure his Mum knows exactly how well looked after his darling son was by the Broncos.

Then they turn to the media, tell everyone how easy it is for players to get in bad situations just by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Self-ban Fifita for 2-3 games to teach him a lesson. Remind everyone how rare it is for these things to happen to Brisbane players, wrap him in cotton wool, and aim "you all better learn for this" looks at the rest of the young players.

You're dealing with 50+ players who are under 30, on decent-to-big salaries, who are fit and in their primes. If you're going to sack players for this stuff you'll end up with no team to run out with on the weekend.

It's an absolute nothing incident, and using his family history as a slight on him is just a shit go. He deadset jokingly tapped a guy on the head with no malice or force. This story has had some twists and turns. First there is apparently a brawl, that's never been mentioned since. A bouncer is supposedly bashed, then it's just a slap around the face. I loved the ABC's description of the incident:

Must've been real serious if he could still go to the police station to make a report.

If there is any punishment by the NRL beyond the 3 games that NAS got for being videotaped in a brawl, the NRL has lost the plot.

Fifita made a bad call to go to Bali and get pissed up there but he's a 19 year old bogan, doing what bogans do in Bali. I hope he's learned his lesson but you'd be hard pressed to say this is a sackable offence given how other players have been treated (ie Jimmy the Jet).

It's happened many times in the past where clubs have cut players loose only for the parasites of the comp to benefit.

EDIT: just reflecting on how ridiculous the rorters' buying is. So they sign Crichton, a guy who was arguably the best 2rf in 2018, then sit him on the bench because Robbo can't be bothered giving him time to adjust (despite looking really good in patches). Now they're looking at throwing 1 mil at Fifita despite allegedly having to upgrade Keary and Teddy to "tier one" contracts now that Cronk is gone. They also have to upgrade blokes like SST and Manu.
