New article has gone up, Dave to shun Titans offer and stay with Broncs...

Probably the same article. Did anyone really think otherwise? We didn’t sign Lodge, TPJ or Glenn fast. We haven’t done so with Fifita either.

We were losing all of them to the Titans / Souths / Whoever at one stage and we didn’t lose any of them. Clearly the Broncs aren’t concerned Bout the length of time a contract takes to sign, hopefully this is a sign they are improving their player contracts and not leaving us with Boyd / McCullough type scenarios.

I have never really been concerned about Fifita going to be honest. It just doesn’t seem as if he has had ANY desire to...
Or they're recreating them all over again to retain these in demand youngsters

NRL.com reporting that Bird plans to take up his option for us in 2021, with the hopes of wearing our #1 jumper

Who else would want him at his price? Of course he’s staying.
Yeh this.

I was glad we signed him and still don’t regret it, no one could predict what was going to happen or the rotten run of injuries he’d have.

But he’d be mad to even think about going anywhere else, he’d get offered peanuts.

I did also notice he said he will definitely return to Sydney. TBH, that’s not a particularly glowing endorsement of his commitment to the club that’s stood by him through all this.

I'm not sure how anyone could say they don't regret the Bird signing. Literally the only beneficiary has been Jack Bird. It's been an unmitigated disaster and almost certainly our worst value signing ever. In fact, it must rank right up there as the worst value signing in NRL history in terms of dollars spent for games played and results achieved. I'm not blaming him and I understand the logic behind signing him at the time, but it's been a train wreck of a signing in reality.

Realistically, he'd need to be a significant contributor to a Premiership in 2021 to even come close to breaking even on our investment in him.

im a big fan of Birdy and feel for him, but can you please explain the logic of singing him? I never quite understood it.

Pretty bad to be talking about going back to Sydney to be honest, given he has not delivered on a huge contract at all. Yes, the reasons are not his fault, etc but he was an unnecessary signing on huge money that has completely backfired. His signing, with a year in his favour at the back end of it just makes it even worse.

I just hope the club doesn't re-offer him a contract regardless of form next year other than base salary. He owes the club at least two seasons on base salary. His signing has been an absolute disaster and unnecessary waste of money. At least say you want to re-pay the club, not take off at any chance you get.

Looks like Ben Teo is a fair chance of signing with us for the remainder of the year. I don't mind it. Obviously we don't even have to play him but if any second rower goes down he would probably be in

How has he been going in Rugby? Anyone care enough about it to know if he has even played any games in recent times?

Teo was one of my favourite when he was with us. His exit and the controversies surrounding him put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but most seem to think it was bullshit.

If he has any of his bronco or bunny form left he’d be a great bench spot. I’d hate to be on the other team if he and TPJ are on at the same time.

No, I don’t regret his signing.

It certainly hasn’t panned out as the club would have liked, but this could have literally happened to any player at any club and at any time. Signings I do regret are players that have come to the club and turned in poor performances. Barba, Kennedy and the like. They’re regrettable signings.

But the Bird signing didn’t fail because he phoned it in. If he could stay on the field, I have no doubt he would be one of our better players most games. Indeed, he was when he managed to string a few games together.

Sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, and in this case, the cookie is a metaphor for Jack’s knees.

But seriously, I did say it earlier but to reiterate, I am filthy he is already declaring he’ll head back to Sydney. That’s poor form.
