well....seeing as how there has never been a precedent for this...ive absolutely no idea what the footy will look like when it returns...could be utterly turgid.....takes time to establish your game rhythm et al...

Im thinking of picking draws for every game in my tipping comp...

I seriously cant see what conclusion one can draw from any of the third round games to be honest.....win, lose or draw.....give it a month to really judge, and by then we will have Parra and the Roosters behind us...

Can't see the full article on CM but they're suggesting Seibold might go with size on the bench to counter the Eels big boppers. Unlikely that he won't have a utility but would be interesting to see the lineup of our bench if he happens to go with four forwards.

Just a 3 forward bench + Farnworth.
And a decision on Lodge's fitness will be made this weekend.

Can only imagine that will be the outcome. Hopefully Lodge is good to go and eased back in from the bench.

I thought the CM article about Parramatta's "Big Boppers" was a bit fanciful. They named Reagan Campbell-Gillard as one of them. RCG has dropped in form massively over the last couple of seasons which is why Penrith were happy to let him go.
Ever since he played Origin and was very average his confidence has dropped and he started turning sideways when he hits the defensive line which took the sting out of his hitups. Our boys will make him look silly I reckon.
Paulo has a big motor and hits the line hard but they don't have the depth across the park in the forwards we do.
If we can nullify Moses we should have a good chance of shutting Eels down..

Who's gonna come on for turps?
Alex Glenn has done plenty of fill-in work at dummy half over the years so he might move in there to make room for another backrower to take his place on the edge

It's probably what's going to happen, and I'd vastly prefer McCullough filling in for 20-30 minutes over Glenn doing the same. Especially Glenn who isn't even fresh after starting the game in the 2nd row.

We just need to get parra into a grind. Once they realise they are not going to roll over the top of us like last year they will start to wobble.
The first 20 mins or so will be important we have to just play low error footy and complete our sets but still take any chances that come.
I will be very happy if the half time score is close < 4pts then we can hopefully hit our stride in the second half.

In regards to their forwards Junior Paulo is the one we need to shut down.

He's got a decent motor and is pretty skillful for a big man. He's also very difficult to get to ground with his late offloads killing us last year.

Peni will also be playing... he used to be a guy that would murder our middles through hard running and quick ptb... his form has dropped over the last couple years though so let's hope he doesn't find his form for this game.

The rest of their pack isn't really a threat as far as I'm concerned, so if we can keep them controlled for the first 20-30 mins Paulo will be off the field and we should run through them

Didn't we have Macca and farnworth on the bench the first two rounds?

I tend to agree. I hope there has been some planning gone in with mecca's release as I think bare minimum we need a back up utility on the bench, and probably someone who can fill the role full time.
That might mean using dearden, but hopefully paix is fit and is in training. I think he can cover more roles and that kind of versatility will be vital.
I hope players that are versatile are kept around the 17, as we'll probably need all of them for this season.

Staggs would be another option ... give Herbie some time in the backline
Nah I wouldn't want to take Staggs away from where he can do the most damage at centre.
The kids an absolute gun and can score a try from anywhere so why blunt his attack by making him defend in the middle..
Would love for them to find a way to get Herbie into the game though - hopefully it's not due to an injury...

I have a feeling Paix will be on the bench alongside two forwards and an outside back.

Like the last game where he switched to halfback and scored two more tries...

A bit of mind games from Parra in the lead up, maybe? Trying to get our guys complacent.
