It's all to do with the outside shoulder and stopping the slide.
Both should have been ruled no try.
The defender should not be allowed to disrupt the defence in that manner.
It's gotten confusing again because some commentators bitch and moan until the interpretation changes.
They had it right a couple of season ago when the onus was on the block runner to get the **** out the way, then Gus and co started whining.
Yeah DCE was outside. So I see why they gave his bit on my view Thompson still obstructed a defender.

Not patting him on the back, just pointing out he didn't go missing like some on here are trying to frame.
He didn’t go missing tonight. Not by a long shot.
That’s the point though, the million dollar marquee players hardly ever go missing. DCE and Turbo certainly didn’t go missing. Proper marquee players like these guys turn up almost every week.

It shouldn’t be noteworthy when Milford doesn’t go missing. It should be the bare minimum for a guy who’s been at it as long as he has and gets paid handsomely to ‘not go missing’.

Croft hasnt been with the squad 5 years and us on 7 figures though.

Is that relevant.. like at all?

We bought Croft to do the exact job that you're complaining that Milford isn't doing. When we lose because we haven't got someone capable of managing the game from the back foot.. you still blame Milford? It's quite remarkable really.

I'm starting to feel sorry for Milford, yeah, he hasn't been good, but the players we've put around him and the burdens we've put on him, wow.

That's how I remember it as well. They were rightfully upset about the Hodges try in Origin, but then defenders were manipulating the rules and it was abolished after only a few weeks in the 2013 season.

I seem to recall it was a game involving the Wests Tigers and Manly Sea Eagles where they started their crusade to cancel it.

Have they changed the interpretation since 2016? I remember it saving the Broncos against the Cowboys so Green started casting shade on the bunker and suddenly everyone followed suit. Something about how the next day, they actually let a try stand against Gallen because he took an obvious dive against the Titans?

Wait...didn't they change the rule again BECAUSE DCE took an obvious dive against Brisbane to deny them a try in that game where Brisbane produced a comeback of their own in 2017? The game where Trbojevic threw a 5m forward pass and they said yeah that's good? Where was our pity party that night? Regardless the DCE obstruction didn't decide the game, but it showed you the type of gamesmanship DCE was capable of.

I'm confused, where are we Dex?

Gotta give Oates some points for his effort tonight. He was doing very well in the first half.

I worry about the lack of intelligent decisions these guys make at some many vital points during the game! They all add up and swing a game.

I'm very happy that Oates played well.

We also saw our defensive issues on the wing whether Oates is there or not. Even halfway up the field we have no line speed and our wing retreats too far.

Yes it is relevant. We are expecting him to perform at the level of his pay packet. You feel sorry for a guy earning a million dollars that isnt performing at such a level? I'm fucking jealous!

How many times did Staggs get the ball out wide in a good attacking shape in the 2nd half?

I keep going on about this but we just don't move the ball around. It's all too much up the middle. The 1st 2 games were different. We actually moved the ball wide and it showed with decent attacking performances. Contrast to Manly who in the 2nd half got the ball out wide and that for mine was the difference .. apart from the shit biased reffing

At least having Fifi and TPJ out wide seems to motivate the halves to pass the ball beyond the nearest middle forward. So annoying

Cop the $10g and go all-in I say. That was pathetic.
I just watched Boyd's disallowed try and DCEs allowed try.
Boyd's was more legit than the latter. Croft never took his eyes off the ballplayer. Yet the video ref said he made a bad read in defense. The defender ran straight into him and took him out. You can't make a read on a guy if you're not looking at him.
So frustrated with tonight's refereeing, as well as the bunker. The bunker guy needs to get stepped down. His decision making was cavalier at best. I'd say he cheated - it's called cognitive bias, so he might not be aware he did.

The Broncos biggest problem is the can't count. Every game they give up easy overlap tries. How is there 3 attackers on the winger if they are numbering up. Slow motion passing, flat footed forwards and a defensive line that moves up and then just stops are also major issues.
It's good coaching by Des. Did you see where Tturbo came from to make the extra ground. Great set play that 3rd try.
I dream about us being able to run moves like that.

DCE was hardly a factor until surprise surprise he had some quality ball. Manly have had to cheat the cap to keep DCE in the team and even then there were years where DCE was producing well below his value.

Yes!! Boyd still causing issues too and line speed is terrible

He's had one bad season
Croft was good in the first 2 games and was good tonight in my view. Nobody was good v parra or the chooks

Can I also point out, Payne Haas had a couple of really nice offloads tonight and the guy standing behind him who caught them looked like he was positively stunned to find he now had the ball in his hands and consequently the offloads went nowhere, and I can’t work out For the life of me why?

I’ve never played this game anywhere close to professionally and even I know that if I could get myself in behind Payne Haas in the tackle I’m a huge change to score an offloaded pass or two.

I’m as far from a Manly fan as you can get and I certainly don’t have much time for DCE, but even I could say I’d struggle to remember DCE having too many bad games, let alone a time where he had a poor or even pretty mediocre season.

They won by 2 folks. They fucked us over even if you take the DCE no try on its own, nevermind the numerous questionable penalties. Seibold should just go off but we know he won't.

ill stand by my comment on player movement. Dearden is just as good as Croft at a far younger age. Croft isn’t directing shit out there, Milford looked far more engaged and and not to mention his kicking game is way fucking better then Croft’s. If he wants to knock back some dollars to stay then dearden and milf it is. My opinion only and I’m lubed up and prepared for the flack.
