V'landys talks the talk, is he about to walk the walk?

Maybe you should take your green eyed glasses off , the NRL is driven by NSW not Rupert. You think that we get favors than you're fucking blind.
in 1995 the second place Canberra Raiders played the Third place Brisbane Broncos in Brisbane for week 1 of the finals. This was the ARL, so rupert wasnt even running his own show then. Oddly enough, I cant remember a lower ranked brisbane side ever playing canberra in canberra in a finals match...

For the record, the raiders won the match.

Favours is the wrong word. Every club has advantages and disadvantages, some more then others.

But in every league NBA NFL AFL you choose, there are certain teams with more supporters so the better the well supported sides do the better the league temporarily looks (in respect of TV ratings, attendance, memberships etc etc).

If you read my post though pagey, I actually said the NRL wasnt running a WWE situation evidenced by how poorly you blokes are going, quite frankly if they were running a dodgy show, you blokes, would be up there with the chooks / parra / melbourne every year. But most years parra suck and well this year you guys do.

Well the WWE has antagonists who lose all the time so the fans can tune in to see the good guys win

I don't think it's some orchestrated wwe-like crap by the NRL, far from it. I think, in fact I know, the nrl are just stupid and insular in their thinking. Its archaic how they run things. The Sydney boys club is blatantly obvious and has held the game back for decades now. Everything that everyone races about the NRL changing in recent years are things super league was trying to bring in 30 bloody years ago. Emphasis on attacking footy, 9s, expansion, taking the game to new areas, less Sydney teams, increased tv content and media access. It's unbelievable that people STILL think super league were the bad guys, they were just living in fucking reality. There were top many Sydney teams and there still are.
We try to have a salary cap like the NFL but without a draft and without 250 million people and with 9 teams in the one city of 5 million instead of 1 team in cities of 20 million. They want clubs to operate on a system that rewards clubs for NOT DEVELOPING PLAYERS and they tell clubs how to spend their members money on and off the field ffs.
This "It's gotta be fair for everyone" Australian sports mentality is such an 80s way of thinking. It's obviously not working in that regard anyway.

If the NRL TRULY wanted to grow the game and were smart you'd have a bonus on your cap for EVERY dollar you invest to promote the game (eg community services, outreach, taking the game to new regions) you get back on the cap to spend. Yes the Broncos, Parramatta and the warriors would get extra but it grows the fucking game! Clubs with more fans should always be better on the field, always! Or is soccer doing something wrong? Their popularity says otherwise....Members money should go to improving their club, not shareholders or owners because the NRL has said it's not fair because some tiny club with no fans who depends on fucking hands outs of money from the money the big clubs bring in can't keep up. It'd also be good if the NRL allocated regions (city and regional) to each club (divided dependent on current amount of registered players and their local area within limits (so Broncos and warriors don't get a massive advantage) and said every player that's gets developed by your club out of that region gets e.g. 30% off the cap and for every extra 100 or so registered players in the area per year you get 5% extra on your cap.

That's what pisses me off. There's no encouragement to fucking grow the game. Along with there being an obvious skew towards nsw in EVERY SINGLE POSITION OF POWER in the game and in the NRL media. QLD and NZ deserve better there.

Why the **** would I read your post thougherly, you're a raiders twat.

People definitely are. People admit to exactly that on Twitter every single week
That's enough evidence for the smart men running the game I reckon.

"Peter, the tv ratings are down by about 25%"

"It's because of the coronavirus!"

"But afl ratings are up by about 10%"

"But people love the game now with the well supported roosters going for a 3peat and the storms massive inroads into Melbourne"

"How do you know this? The ratings say otherwise"

"Because @Jason_theraidersman said he loves watching the Broncos get smashed"

ITS WORKING GUYS

A small minority on twitter voicing their pleasure at the broncos misery isn't worth much to anyone. Total viewers are well down, so advertising is worth less to channel 9, which means the game is worth less.

If there was ever to be an honest to goodness conspiracy, it would be as the Raiders blow-in suggested. We'd be the beneficiary of it.

Instead we are getting slaughtered in penalty counts/ruck infringements. You could argue this is because of deep seated hatred in the NRL for all things Broncos, or you could argue it's because we're an absolute basket case that struggles with every other fundamental of Rugby League, so why not discipline too?

So? You asked the question, I answered it.

I don't think there's any agenda from the NRL to screw over the Broncos, I just think they grossly misunderstood their start and slotted them in as one of the heavyweights which saw them face off against four of the best teams in the competition. The only point of contention is that Brisbane were led to believe the competition wouldn't restart until July at the earliest which is why they scheduled Fifita in for surgery when they did. There was an obvious miscommunication there and they weren't ready at all for the May restart, whereas other teams looked more than ready.

If there is one club that's being targeted in all of this, it's Melbourne. The set restarts were brought in because fans were sick of how slow the ruck was and the media are quick to blame Melbourne for the state of it. Still, Melbourne have adjusted easily and remain one of the top teams in the competition because they are so professional despite facing more adversity than most clubs. Little is made of their sacrifices while everyone is quick to praise Warriors (who do deserve it, but Melbourne deserve some gratitude as well).

Like the stripping rule the set restarts are far from perfect. Teams have already figured out how to exploit the system and I doubt we'll see too much of it at all come the finals or Origin.

“But Pete, the facts don’t support it!”

“Haven’t you heard Fox reporters? I’m the saviour! I’m doing the greatest job ever, just ask them...Now let’s talk about cutting costs by 10%.”

So they should be. Melbourne have been an absolute blight on rugby league. They ruined several years of the competition with their deliberate salary cap cheating of unprecedented magnitude, were never properly punished for it, and ushered in an era of deliberate cheating on the field along with tackles designed to injure other players and completely control the ruck. Any time a rule was brought in, they either found a technical loophole, another way around it, or just flat out ignored it knowing the referees would buckle first. Cameron Smith may be a great player but he's an absolute grub on the field, Craig Bellamy has shown that while he may be an excellent coach he's never been able to win a premiership without having three future immortals in his spine. Alex McKinnon may well never walk again because Bellyache thinks winning dirty is far more important than abiding by the rules of the game. And to top it off they've produced maybe one local junior. As a code we would have been better off booting the Storm from the comp in 2011.

And gratitude for their sacrifice? Half their players are from Queensland anyway. They should be grateful to us for even letting them in. If I was a player there and had a choice between a frozen shithole full of smarmy wankers and coronavirus or living somewhere half decent I'd be hoping for the team to be moved up north every year.

Quality rant tbh.

Has there ever been any clarity as to how the got this impression when it seems that ever other team understood it was a May return? Was this intentional by the NRL or are the Broncos just that fucking stupid that they didn't read the email properly?

@Sproj and @Organix have been triggered. Whatever you do, don’t bag the coffee 😂😂

Nah @abashii is a good egg, even the best posters get things wrong.
Shots fired at @abashii aside; can’t help but feel like this is a ‘read between the lines’ backhand at me 😂😂
