That's horrible news.

I'll always remember him from one of the first junior rep games I watched, the 2006 Jersey Flegg Final between Newcastle and Penrith. The match featured the likes of Akuila Uate, Michael Jennings, Tim Grant etc. but Iosefa was a real stand-out in the middle causing Newcastle a lot of trouble and helping Penrith to a fairly unlikely victory.

10. Sam Backo – 7 games
11. Gorden Tallis – 17 games
12. Carl Webb – 12 games
13. Sam Thaiday – 29 games

Here's one for @Morkel.

Before in order for a former NRL CEO to be eligible for a ARL Comission position they had to have no NRL affiliation for a period of three years. Now that has been shortened to just one year, potentially increasing the odds of there being a conflict of interest.

Why is this one for me? Oh. Oh yeah, the conspiracies. I'm sure this will pave the way for Cam Smith.

Moreso because you're quick to point out when people are appointed to positions of power and abuse it for their own self interests. The ARLC was formed to protect the sport, not to serve NRL clubs or more specifically it's broadcasters.

It's a weird rule change, I can only think of one reason they'd do it (for altrusitic reasons) and that's that they'd be worried that any good CEO's will be lost to the game if they have to disappear for 3 years. One year, they could probably do a temp year somewhere if they knew they were in for a shot at NRL HQ after that time. But 3 years would be enough time for them to potentially do a good job elsewhere and it'd be too hard to wrangle them back.

But it's the NRL. There has to be an agenda behind it. I just need to think.

Well Paul Kunt has been advocating for it for about 18 months now so it's definitely to the benefit of Sydney in someway

Geeezzzz Louise...............the head honcho is saying 2023 is the target for the new Brisbane team..............you can just feel the NRL are going to do something stupid just to play a game each weekend out of Suncorp regardless of the impact.

Thank god for that magic grass the put down at Suncorp, we have all seen how well it holds up under it's current load so can be confident it won't have any issues with multiple games played on it every weekend across the 3 codes that use it.

I really dont understand why you would fast track bringing in a 17th team... 17 & 18 yes, but I dont see how having 17 adds value.

Absolutely everyone will be critical in round 1 2023 when there's a team starting the year off with a bye.

We're also talking about a situation where this 17th team will need to be announced pretty soon, because off contract players for 2023 can be signed as of November 1 this year.

If the new team isn't announced with enough lead time they could be behind the ball instantly as the existing 16 teams grab up all the talent.

i think it's now only the 2 rugby codes that use it ... I believe the Roar are playing out of Dolphin oval.

although, i would prefer the roar use it and the Reds play elsewhere as the roar are less likely to tear up the field

Yep, all the extra cost of another team but without the benefit of the TV money for another game each week.

Heck, they've even had to reduce the salary cap going forward, are they going to spilt that up between 17 teams.

I certainly look forward to the Broncos being shafted at every opportunity, on the field by the refs, at the judiciary, and through the media, just so they can disillusion Broncos fans as much as possible so they'll jump on to Brisbane New™.
