Adam Clune has reportedly knocked back an offer from Warrington

reports also say that Clifford may not be at the Knights next year, he still has one year to run on his contract worth 450k, but the mail is both parties would be willing to cut ties if Clifford can find a new club.

The Knights still want Brooks, but reports say that so do the Tigers and they've even started negotiations on an extension

I'm amazed any club, including the Tigers, are interested in Brooks.

Brooks should go to the Dolphins. A great start would be good for him and they need someone who can share the work with Milford who we all know can’t do anything without his hand held. They can share the work so the pressure is eased on both of them

I would be taking advantage of this and offering clifford 200k (maybe even 250k as halve depth is a real concern to me). Currently, if Reynolds goes down our kicking options are poor and very limited experience playing as a half in the nrl.

Makes sense. Way too much sense.

My only concern is that Kev will start playing Clifford off the bench at hooker then bring Walters in the halves to replace Reynolds or some cooked shit like that

I’m sure someone would’ve mentioned this previously but I’m really surprised Tom Opacic is heading to the UK next season.. a solid defensive centre who wouldn’t break the bank - what’s not to like ?

And one of @Wolfie's familiars. We'd get plenty of inside info. Not gossip, but useful stuff we crave, like player's favourite video games, who sucks up to the coach most, and who are the 2nd to 10th most likeable teammates.

The problem with Tommy is that he's at that stage where he can't afford to be a fringe player anymore. He took an option that guaranteed him first grade football and Brisbane weren't in a position to make those guarantees. Not with Staggs, Farnworth and Mariner on the roster.

Except apparently the ESL club did break the bank to get him... otherwise I reckon he would've been going to the Dolphins anyway

More likely Melbourne tbh. His offer from Hull was just too good for him to turn down though.

He's been playing some good footy since he got back into the Eels side. Just gives them that consistency of performance and stability they were missing, and he keeps Sivo in line defensively. One of his big strengths is he is constantly getting people into the right positions.

We couldnt offer him first team footy, but i think he would have been better than Kotoni this year. Dont think we are going to see the best of Mariner at center for a year or 2. Tom has done the right thing taking that big contract from Hull though. While he isnt a $500k a year player ability wise, he's always worked his socks off and you know he will never give up on any play and does all the little things you want a player to do. I think he's deserved a bit of luck getting a good deal.

Tom wasn't available for this season, he re-signed back in 2020 when the Broncos were a dumpster fire. Brisbane already put their eggs in the Kotoni basket, so it came down to Tom and Herbie, and I don't blame them for going with the latter.

The issue with Tom is that while he has these decent patches of form, he's never been able to cement himself as the long term centre at a club. So often he'll be one of the first players dropped and only called in when there's an injury or the other player didn't work out. He's a good depth player, but he's at a stage where he needs more opportunities and the Broncos weren't in a position to make him that kind of offer.

To put it into perspective, Tom has only managed to more than 20 games once a season and even then was overlooked for the finals.

I think he would have played finals footy last year tbh for Parra if it wasnt for other circumstances that affected him. He really struggled to get his head around things.

We didnt really pick Herbie over him either really. Tom got a chance to leave and asked for a release for 2019 even though he just signed a new contract. Herbie i dont believe had even played NRL back at that point in time.

I'm talking about this year when both players were off contract. The Broncos had the opportunity to offer Tom that deal but went with Herbie and I don't think anybody would argue.

In 2018 Tommy could see the writing on the wall with Kotoni coming through. I don't think you could have a more poetic moment than Tommy going down early in a game, Kotoni making his debut and scoring a double.
