I think this one will be another tough one without our stars. Unfortunately with the young squad we will have to go back through the same teething issues we have gone through over the last few years. The players will be reading all about themselves in the media and will turn up with an over confident attitude. Need blokes like Capes, Reyno and Staggs to keep them all grounded.

Also… this Piakura love?! He has been shitting the bed since we have him the $1.2M contract. Has been a passenger (not a very good one at that) in most games I’ve seen. I’ve said it before, let’s really find out if he is up for it this year! He needs to show something in Cup and definitely at NRL level. Otherwise, off to the Dolphins…
He has been one of our best in cup this year and he has about a combined 60 minutes of nrl. For a freshly 21 year old who has spent more time in his career injured on the sidelines than playing he is doing alright. People like you, who have no fucken idea what he is doing away from the nrl field yet complain like there is no fucking tomorrow need to keep quiet. It’s not a great look when you are outraged off 60 minutes of football and seem to have not looked at any other remote indication of where he is or should be at. You’d swear he was on 1 million a year for **** sakes. 400k is a lot for his age but for someone with the reputation he had I would chuck the same deal at the next kid if it meant keeping them. In the grand scheme of things if your cap is fucked over a 400k deal you have bigger issues than that kid. We are winning footy and I still see plenty of talent there that warrants hanging in there for a while to see if we can get a return. Sick of this overnight success bullshit that has to occur with everybody, it’s even more ridiculous that anyone expects it from the guy who actually has a reason for delayed development. That’s my rant over but I just find it ludicrous the amount of hate he has got.

100% agree.
He's played his minutes off the bench aswell, which for a backrower new into grade would be a difficult task I'd imagine.
Your coming on the field against a team that's already got their rhythm with a half looking to exploit you at every opportunity and the game is alot faster than your used too defending next to new team mates. Your not going to be perfect and you'll get caught out.
It took Riki time to find his feet Piakura will be the same.

I agree with you. Let’s give him another 60mins to “wow us”. Then….. off to the 🐬
😂😂😂
Remember Tim Moltzen @ the Tigers??Greatest thing since sliced bread. Played less than a 100 games and always injured… his NRL “development” was delayed due to injuries, then he retired. It’s a sad reality that some kids won’t make it due to unforeseen and unfortunate injuries. Or general laziness. Either way, let’s hope you’re right and he “develops” within his contract. Otherwise I wouldn’t re-sign him. Plenty more players out there.

Btw, pot stirring and jokes aside… I HOPE HE BECOMES A ONCE IN A GENERATION PLAYER. All I was saying is, if he isn’t or doesn’t look it, cut our losses and move on.

Tim Smith, Karl Filiga, Shannon Walker, Chris Sandow, Blake Taaffe, Jonus Pearson - these are just a few guys of the top of my head who looked amazing on debut and what happened to them? Some players hit the ground running, most don't.

You might even recall several of us (myself included) would have been ok with Carrigan making way at some point. The point is, for young players, especially forwards, most of them don't hit the ground running.

I don't expect Walsh, Cobbo and Flegler to be named.

Haas and Carrigan will very likely play.

I say we play Haas as hard as we can till he makes up his mind about what he wants.
As much as i love the bloke as a footballer, his contract bullshit is pissing me off constantly.
Its always something with this guy and im over it.
Just 2 months ago he was on the verge of signing the biggest deal with Broncos ever.
Now its off to the bulldogs, or union or the Jamaican bobsled team or w/e the **** stupid nonsense it is next.

No rests for Haas, till he gets his shit sorted.

Its one of the reasons i love Patty, he got it done and can focus on the footy, no distractions.

/end rant.

Nothing surprising in that just yet. Would have been nice to see that Corey was definitely playing but I don’t think he will despite the fact he is on the emergency. Will be interesting to see which origin players do/don’t play.

Massive team list evident that some of the origin boys will be sidelined depending on how they feel. Sounds like they will join the team on Thursday in Sydney. What a massive fortnight for the boys.
