If we are given the regular storm ref treatment where the ruck slows down to a snail's pace when we are in possession and then are screamed at to clear the ruck within 0.0001 seconds of a storm attacker hitting the ground then we are in trouble. Similiarly, if the ref slows the game right down by refusing to blow penalties at all then that also favours the storm. If it is officiated properly, aka the ref isn't conned by the regular storm tricks such as getting 'tangled' up in the ruck every tackle, then we win comfortably.
The only reason they're allowed to play like that is because of their superior linespeed. The refs reward dominant tackles by allowing more time to wrestle and if defensive linespeed is slow it's harder to make dominant tackles. Melbourne's defensive tactic against us has always been the same, get up quick in our faces and watch us fall apart. Offensively they just run hard and exploit the space that we give them.

Also helps that they tend to get penalised earlier but then just keep going off their line too quick knowing the ref will put the whistle away if they keep on doing it, which they always do.

Remember Anysalad? 'The better teams have the ball more and so are penalised less' - it is just funny that earlier in the year, despite us being above the Storm as we have been all year, we ended up with three players in the bin for (insert crackdown reason here) and on the end of an 8-1 penalty count despite us being one of the better disciplined teams in the comp all year.

The ref should be there to adjudicate fairly, not directly impact a result due to mismanagement. Funnily enough, said ref got binned the following week.

I will be watching from home because my cat Rosie knows if the broncos will win or not she walked away last week before the match started that is how I knew we were going to lose

Grant and Hughes are expected back for the Storm. They have 2 wingers (Ieremia and Jennings) and a half (Pezet) out for the season. No suspensions.

We are at full strength, no suspensions, with only Xavier Willison injured.

Should be a top quality contest.

Wish I could go, it better be a fortress there on Friday night! They should just not let any Melbourne fan in there.
I think it will be a fortress - our dark periods have unlocked a new passion from our fans IMO. We are angry, and hungry.

They always get about 20-30% storm fans at suncorp. That's why they have such success. It's disgusting.
I disagree with this. 20% of last weeks crowd would essentially be half of the lower bowl - absolutely no chance that they would have filled half. I've been tracking their bays today, and it took them 5 hours to sell their 900 seat away allocation. I think our fans infiltrated it. Of course they will sit elsewhere too, but this speaks volumes. I recall that even the Roosters filled that quickly in 2015, and the Dragons did it in about 30 seconds in 2018. Melbourne are a soulless club, and with that comes shitall support lol.

I always find that away supporters are louder and more parochial during regular season games, but I think we will have an origin-like atmosphere on Friday.

I hope you're right.

Keep in mind I haven't attended a Live storm game since I made my "never again storm live game"vow in 2019. Half the crowd was Storm supporters that ugly night.

That was a putrid night. I think it just would have felt that way. Melbourne barely have 18k supporters in Melbourne, that will own Brisbane

Just ignore them when you see them Friday, there will be 9 other Broncos fans for ever 1 storm fan. And we are all better looking!!

I’m not sure if Melbourne members get priority ticketing? Plus surely not many members would be situated up in Brisbane or willing to travel to brisbane. So I reckon with about 14k seats left it will be mostly bronx fans.

They can jump in with their ticketed membership, but I'm sure that they'll stay put and wait for their guaranteed home game at some point.

Some of their home prelims barely sell out. And they took almost no one to the SCG in 2019.

From my time in Melbourne - the whole office 'followed' them on social media. "oh yeh yeh the stormssss" - but couldn't name a player and would barely attend a game.

Could you glue her to the VCR on Friday afternoon by any chance?

I mean, I'm not superstitious, but I might be a little... My jersey got its 6th wash all year this week, I hope to not wash it again until the day after the GF...

Everyone has to throw down a Suncorp beer every time NAS plays the ball incorrectly #drunk #broke

You can safely go. If no one's home to see it'll be a Schrodinger's cat situation, and we will be simultaneously assured of victory and defeat, and it'll cancel out. I think.
