Yeah crazy that NSW media is already turning on him. I thought given how loved he seemed to be down that way that he’d be given a bit more slack.

If this account from Rothfield is true, it’s not a very smart play from Maguire..

I know a lot of fans think Buzz Rothfield is an old fool who makes up stories but there’s a reason he’s survived in that game in Sydney for a such a long time - he’s on old school news hound who picks up the phone, asks questions and breaks stories..

So abusing him for simply writing a yarn about something he was told by a couple of contacts is not going to have any upside for Maguire going forward. All this has done is get one of the highest profile rugby league reporters even further offside with him.

And you better believe that Rothfield will be quietly looking for any opportunity to highlight further strains in Maguire’s relationships with broncos players etc.

We’ve all seen how hard he’s gone at Gus Gould & Shane Richardson in recent years.. Gus is so ridiculously powerful that it doesn’t matter but Richardson made a very shrewd move in February by inviting Rothfield for a look (and a long lunch) at the Wests Tigers’ new facilities & preseason training.. Suddenly, all was forgiven, ‘Richo is doing a great job and the Tigers are all set for a big year’.. 🤨

Technically we have.

This time last year we were 6-4 and outright 6th. From then on we went 4-10 and finished in 12th.

This time in 2023 we were 8-2 and outright 1st. From then we went 10-4 and finished in outright 2nd.

This time in 2022 we were 6-4 and were outright 7th. From there we went 7-7 and finished 9th.

This time in 2021 we were 2-8 and were in 15th place. From there we went 5-9 and finished 14th.

This year we’re 5-5 and outright 7th.

Our biggest problem in recent years (2023 is the outlier) has been the backend of the year, where we have consistently failed to turn up.

This year, we started well but are falling away (4 losses in the last 5 games) in the middle of the season.

Given historical precedence, this is not a rosy outlook for the remainder of the year….

And it is the big issue. Our slide evidently started in week 4 or 5. If we fall away, which looks pretty likely, Maguire will have been an abject failure, there is just no other way to look at it.

Here's hoping he can go against trend and turn it around.

How many times can we continue to blame the coach?

I'm not saying any of Siebold, Walters or Madge don't have their glaring flaws that are/were still present to this day, but there's got to be some responsibility put on the players. Even if the players are going away from the plan or aren't buying into it, it doesn't excuse the god-awful skills, attitude, effort, and lack of thinking that goes on out there

For sure. The players are dumb as doorknobs and clearly have massive issues with attitude and laziness, etc. Clearly some of them are nigh on uncoachable. I suspect we are about to drop 800k a year on one of them though. This is on top of over spending (based on output in recent times) on Walsh and Mam as well.

That said, this is a thread to talk about the coach. The fact is, he is supposed to be able to at least instil work ethic in the side and I’m not seeing it. He’s supposed to instil a game plan but it seems sporadic if there at all. He doesn’t seem to even have his senior players buying in right now and his bench usage is worse than Kevvie’s. He is also seemingly afraid of making any needed changes based on performance which for a team as dumb as ours, breeds complacency.
 
If the players are continuing to fall out with coaches then the problem is most probably the players.

Find out who is talking to Buzz and make an example. If you're running smear campaigns through your manager you should be a gonerrrr. If there is anyone - sounds like Adsense farming.

I don`t understand how Captn / Coach Reynolds is like a teflon frying pan in all this sack the coach bleeting .
 
Some of the players need a dose of concrete to hard up.

Poor babies, having to change their schedule.

Their schedule changes all the time, they wouldn't be bitching about a changed schedule if it was a GF.

I think some don't like putting in the hard yards.

Lets be honest, Buzz started his players being overworked campaign ages ago even without an official source at the club. Then he has just been beating the drum ever since. I would imagine he has talked to an agent and they have made an off the cut comment about how its alot harder training now than under Kev from what player Z has told me and then he has ran with it to further the agenda.
