THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

It's not one position: it's three plus at least two on the bench, plus minimum three reserves.

Our state rep level players are currently:

1. Haas
2. Carrigan
3. Cobbo
4. Hunt
5. Walsh

Had they not been injured neither Walsh nor Hunt would've been picked for QLD. Cobbo shouldn't be picked, but probably will be.

So in reality, we have two rep grade props, of which one is better at lock.
Arey is a rep halfback, hunts a 6/9 rep level player, staggs has played for nsw…

Prop, lock, spine, wing, centres…

We’re stacked… just poor coaching

Are we stacked? Let's not focus on rep level, focus on top 3 / 5 / 10 level in their position:

1. Walsh (Probably top 5 at his best, currently top 10)
2. Cobbo (Probably top 5 winger)
3. Staggs (Probably top 10)
4. Shibasaki (nope)
5. Arthars (Maybe top 10, maybe)
6. Mam (Top 3 at his best but hasn't played in forever)
7. Reynolds (Top 5)
8. Carrigan (Top 5 probably at prop, definite top 3 at lock)
9. Hunt (Probably top 3 at his best)
10. Haas (Best in his position)
11. Piakura (Nope)
12. Riki (Nope)
13. Hetherington (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nope)

14. Walters / Paix / Mozer (Nope)
15. Jensen (Nope)
16. Willison (Nope but potential to get there)
17. Insert Name Here (Nope)

So when players are their BEST, we have these guys likely in top 3:
1. Walsh
2. Cobbo
6. Mam
7. Reynolds
9. Hunt
10. Haas
13. Carrigan

At present though, worrying, only one bloke is playing like a top 3 player - Haas.

Mate who’s job is it to get the players playing their best?

And yes, having half your run on side being top 3 in their position is definitely stacked

That's just bed-wetting mentality.
I'm 100% certain the coach isn't telling the players to run out on the 1st tackle like Mariner did against Souffs or any other of the soft choices made in attack going for broke early in tackle counts.

It takes a little time to change habits entrenched from the Kev attack from anywhere years.
I'm happy for him to get a bit more than 10 games in before shitting myself.

I think we do have a soft underbelly, I hated the way Staggs didn't defend Billy when Burton dogshot blind sided him or anyone take exception to Piakura getting kneed in the head.

If we're prepared to accept that without retaliation that is as weak as piss but that's on the players.
They get bullied and they're not up for the fight, that goes to depth of character and shows zero leadership or pride on the field it's ****ing submissive and has no place in a successful rugby league teams mentality.

I'm pretty sure it's not madge who has instilled this in them but madge needs to change and soon.
Couldn’t agree more.

If I was a coach, the number one thing I would’ve pulled up footage of in the video session and played it to everyone before making the player sit out for a week, would’ve been Staggs dawdling past a concussed Walters. If he wasn’t ready to throw hands he should have at least checked on his team mate.

Weak as piss

I’d be more forgiving of all the errors and brain dead shit than that.

Walsh and Hunt would've both played for QLD. QLD are so desperate for a 14 that they are apparently considering Mann, and KP is playing horribly for the Knights.

I feel that some guys are dirty that Kev got the sack, and fair enough. That’s a reasonable view to have. But I feel like some of us are making the mistake of taking that frustration out on Madge, rather than the people who got Kev sacked….the players

This coach was bought in to be the final piece to the premiership. He shouldn't be given the keys to blow it all up. He wasn't signed here to go through a rebuild. 18 months ago this team was a bees dick from a premiership. He is to be judged on producing results immediately not in 3 years time.

This team missed the finals 3 out of the last 4 years.

so if you look at it logically, 2023 was the exception not the rule

Players probably aren't getting along. There have been cliques for years if reports are true. What was that boat cruise even about? Sounds a bit like lock in at the rec centre sp episode if you ask me.

Memories or selective amnesia aside. The best you have felt watching a broncos side in the last 10 years was with Kev at the helm.

You are also being selective by limiting it to 10 years to suit your agenda. I've had plenty of more enjoyable times watching the Broncos than watching us constantly implode under Kevvie, Seibold, Madge and even Bennett.

That's not really looking at it logically. That's looking at it at face value with no context - how someone like Buzz would.

Logic would factor in what Kevvie inherited (a wooden spoon team - and a broken front office), and the continuous improvement that was made every year all the way to the grand final. 2024 seems to be the exception as the one year we didn't improve on the previous (noting all the distractions and injuries as well).

Capewell as well
The worst decision we made in terms of recruitment over the last few years. I get you loose players like Herbie and Flegler to more money, but Capewell was our own decision (to make way for the next big thing - which never works). We really miss that type of versatile and intelligent footy player - especially on the edges. But to be fair if we blame Kevvie for the players we lost, he should get the credit for the grand final roster he built.

Yea it still pisses me off what the club (and I guess players) did to Kev. We never should have sacked him, and he had earned at least 25 to turn it around. But you can't blame Madge for that. Problem is that Madge is not delivering on the narrative that was pushed for his appointment in the first place (i.e. we had the players, but they needed some grit/better work ethic). We seem to have gone further backwards in almost every facet (attack, defence, etc.). Luckily it's only round 10. We just need to stay in the 8 for now, and a big post origin run can save it all.
