What is Selwyn's weakness? Isn't it looking like he doesn't give a **** half the time?

It’s almost as though, even playing all his life, that he might have not expected the tough grind playing against men week in and week out to be so intense?

Probably always just assumed that his talent alone would carry him through his career, for the most part. Maybe he still believes that.

I'd just be concerned at having another lazy, hot and cold outside back in the team. Fatrell only seems to turn it on when he feels like it. We don't need another high paid bloke like Cobbo who seems very similar judging by his form the past year or two.

Whether Wayne could turn him around, is anyone's guess.

With Cobbo and Mitchell in the same team you'll either win by 50 or lose by 50

He wasn't the star in Meninga. 2019 Tweed had Walsh, Coates, Sexton, Piakura. Blackhawks had Hamiso, Jets had Sam Walker, Tigers had Howarth.

They were the stars of that cohort.

Plath playing 6 for Wynnum just kept picking Cobbo apart in the finals.

Also, Davvy Moale's manager has had preliminary talks with Brisbane. He is off contract end of this year.

I thought Moale had extended a year to end of 2026?

It would be interesting if Moale is available.

I thought he was pretty highly rated coming through souths, and either last year or the year before he was basically the only prop left so he was carrying the whole forward pack.

However he seems to cop a fair bit of criticism and I think it's been about his work rate??

I'll have to admit that I don't focus a whole lot of attention on him, but I don't always feel like I notice him on the field... like at all... doesn't seem to come up with big hits or big runs... I don't seem to notice him for just always putting his hand up to have a run.

So potentially souths are happy to let him go, which would make me hesitant to be happy about picking him up... but maybe I'm missing something and he could be a great signing.

This is where I will spruik Trew. Much safer than Leota. Still unproven against men, he's having to go back to Souths (I think) BRL with his tail between his legs as there are no spots for him in Q Cup. But now that he has a run of games under his belt, his metre churning abilities have shone, which is what you'd hope from 6'8" and ~110kgs.

He lacked a bit of involvement in the MM final. I think the other outside backs particularly tonihi and verhoeven were doing the hard yards.

Trew just didn't seem to have the aggression to just say, I am going to run over you.

But I Have only seen a little bit of him, he may have just had an off game.

Anyone know how philitoga and sione hopoate did in this year? I thought philitoga showed something in the trials.

Bit of gossip from the Burrow thought you might be interested in.

The Rabbitohs board this week endorsed an offer being put in for Selwyn Cobbo for next year. Some board members were against it due to concerns about him coming to Sydney, but it was given the go ahead, presumably Wayne had a big say.

Also, Davvy Moale's manager has had preliminary talks with Brisbane. He is off contract end of this year.

Onwards and upwards in 2025 for us all we hope!

Moale seems like a straight upgrade on Taupau.

Fairly stocky, churns out a serviceable 25 minutes a game.

Could shake a quality depth player or 2 loose from Souths if we let them sign Cobbo

No mate, Davvy extended till end of this year only. I would think Souths want to keep him, but who knows.

That final wasn't his best game, but the team were pumped with his performances and said they wouldn't have made the GF without him.

Not yet, but they're not giving him a run in Q Cup and there's little value in playing in an age comp, he wants to play against adults so BRL is what is available.

I think that can be ok and is a good sign that he wants to get games against adults after MM finished.

I think 1910 was saying it's rare for a player to go straight from MM to Qcup, so it shouldn't be unexpected or considered a downgrade for him.

I believe Jett Bryce is the only one going straight to Qcup this year, but even guys like Mozer, Coby, BTK, etc. might've played a game or so of Qcup near the end of the year after the MM final.

Then they train with the Top 30 next preseason and look to get a full year of Qcup in from there.

It's a good sign if Trew gets some BRL games, because I think some of the MM guys don't play for ages after the final.

Bryce might only be going to Qcup, because of how terrible our backrow is and Madge wanting to see if a young guy might be a bolter for later in the year.

Ffs, how many more Sunday arvo games have we still got? It’s better to concede the 2pts to opposition than to get dejected & feel utter hopeless.

For nearly 20 years we kept having those yet the dreaded premiership teased us twice with no real luck.

I want us to win the darned premiership before my interest in the game wanes off mate.
