Lol well to play devil's advocate here, most of the whinging I saw on socials (a cesspit obviously) was to do with the length of his suspension compared to Leniu's. It doesn't help that the media has been playing up the severity of the incident non-stop.

People are only claiming that because the media keep saying that he should've been banned for the year... which would be ridiculous...

I can't think of too many suspensions longer than what Ezra copped... Pearce copped 8 weeks and $125k fine ($50k suspended) for the infamous dog incident on Anzac Day.

Ezra 9 weeks and $90k (none suspended)... have there been any punishments handed down for more?

We have had a player threatening a woman with violence, we have had a player humiliating a fan who just wanted a photo with a homophobic comment before he then got beaten, but because they were two of our so called superstars we let them get away with it. I'd have sacked them both on the spot to send a message there are some lines you dont cross. If they were two players well down the pecking order, we would have sacked both.

Honestly most of it wasn't them starting it but it never looks good regardless, I think the issues with Staggs are over blown though Nothing any average person wouldn't have done in the same situation with a bit of alcohol in their system the holier then thou attitude over the homophobic stuff I think is over blown and would mean more if he was just Sober and not being pressed by an annoying random, Haas's early issue was bad but lets be real he made up for it and kept his head down as well.

Mams situation was honestly the worst one of the lot no denying, and it's obvious because of his status it saved him, so I just hope he can make that up because he ****en owes us big time.

How would he react if somebody did the same to his fiancee or daughter? Despicable and cowardly behaviour. Same as with Staggs, should have got terminated from his Broncos contract.

As much as its good for everyone they turned things around, Its irrelevant to what they did in terms of keeping their jobs. If the club had anything about them, they would have sacked the pair the next day. I dont see in what world anyone can make excuses for any of them. I dont really care if people dont agree with me, but i dont tolerate violence, particularly against women, racism and i dont tolerate homophobia. Those are my morals and standards and i'm happy to stand for them.

Am I missing something with this photo incident? This is the first time i’ve heard this, when did this happen? And what happened?

Then Kotoni went back to to confront him and asked this fan if he made a racist comment to Kotoni ( reports make that part unclear if he did or didnt, if he did thats unnaceptable as well. ). Staggs mates stepped in and started beating this bloke in the middle of the pub.

Look I get what you saying and probably don’t disagree entirely but I think some context is important and also people **** up, especially after some time I think you just need to let it go.

With Payne he abused a police officer. Not that I am saying that that is acceptable either but he verbally abused the person who was there in their capacity as a police officer. That police officer happened to be a woman but his anger was towards the authority not the woman. It’s not like he was saying “all you female coppers are the same” or singling her out because she was a woman. If you have an issue with what Payne did your issue should be that he was verbally abusive to authority. Female or male a police officer is there in that capacity as a police officer.

With Staggs, I think the context is very important. It’s important to know if this was unprovoked or if they were saying or doing shit to him to get a reaction they can record. In any case unprovoked or provoked what he said was bad and he shouldn’t have said it, but didn’t he just call him gay or something? It wasn’t like he went on a homophobia tirade attacking gay people. He used a word as an insult to this person that in this day and age you shouldn’t use as an insult, I’m sure he regrets it.

Everyone is entitled to make a mistake especially when they are young.

I'm pretty sure there were witnesses at the pub who confirmed it, it was in the court documents. He obviously used a different slur but you get the idea, i just sanitised it because i didnt want to post it on here. It was never argued he didnt do it either. They did it all in public view so there isnt too much dispute about any of it. The bloke just wanted a picture.

As for Payne, he abused multiple police officers, but he specifically made mention of her being a woman.

That shows he would have had no issues hitting a woman, police or not. Thats something i just cant tolerate. But thats just my opinion, not everyone has the same way of thinking i do and thats fair enough.

I dont disagree with your point either about people making mistakes, they do and they need to learn from them, which Payne and Kotoni seem to have done. You still have to pay for serious mistakes, and i think they got off lightly for theirs. My initial point was more lesser players would have got the boot for the same thing.

Yes I think this about nails it.
Staggs attitude was its ok for him to make homophbic remarks but a racist remark is not acceptable hence the physical retaliation from his friends.
If the club wanted to drive it's standards all 3 would be sacked but it would be a brave club to do this and like you said no club will part with elite talent they have invested time and money into..

The other side of this though is our system is all about rehabilitation, understanding mistakes and correcting behaviour. The club has to take into account the welfare of the players and all circumstance around any incident.
Absolutely agree though the line is drawn around how important you are to the club which makes all clubs hypocrites.

I think it does when its that sort of thing personally. Its no different to being a racist and i'd want any player who did that sacked on the spot as well.

I'm probably a bit over emotional with the Payne thing. I've seen a fair bit of domestic violence towards women first hand and its an issue for me. I'm probably not as objective as i could be with it but its just where i stand. I think its taken too lightly. On top of that, until he stopped working, i worked with Hannah Clarke's Dad and all the complaints about her ex partner were taken too lightly by everyone until the day he set fire to her and her 3 kids. Its just devastating to see what it does to families. I wouldn't put Payne in that bracket as that vile human tbf.

In all honesty, probably something i should steer clear of more on here in some regards but i dont shut up that often!
