So he can continue to suck up more of the cap meaning we can't spread the money around. We'll cave and give him whatever he wants
It all depends on the new TV rights deal... the cap goes up year on year and the new TV deal kicks in for 2027 I think.

New deal means new salary cap... if it goes up 50%, but Haas' pay goes up $100k or something, then he's still getting good money, but there's more cap to spend elsewhere.

The issue will be rachet clauses that chew up any increase in salary cap... guys like Walsh and Haas are the ones likely to be on rachet clauses... and if Haas isn't then his manager will be pushing for one knowing that the cap is going up, but the value won't be known for a while yet.

Absolutely. It's honestly just the timing of it all and I've had just about enough of his dickhead manager pulling this shit on the regular.

We do have too much money tied up in him though tbh.

For sure he has way too much money tied up in today's salary cap, but today's $1m might be tomorrow's $800k.

Jake Turbo is on 1 million plus this season would you believe ?
Listening to Bwaith Anasta pod cast yesterday . I was shocked .
Apparently a back ended deal feom Dessies time ?

Yeah he's been on way overs for awhile now... think he signed that deal back when he was competing for number 1 lock in the game ... so that was a loooooong ass deal, because he has been pretty much done for awhile now.

Still puts great shots on in defence though.

6-year deal in 2019.

900k for a local playing 234 games that's captained his state and played for Australia is pretty good.

That's not the bad one, but the next one has potential to be.

Friend of a friend, Ben Talty added to roster.

Coby Black looked the goods in last nights origin u19 game. Than after the game said he’s been a broncos fan since he was a kid and loves the broncos and wants nothing more than to debut for us. Exciting times

He looks like he has exactly what will be needed to compliment Mam and Walsh. With Mozer and Bukowski also having strong links to the club, all going to plan, our spine is set for the next decade.

I would just like to see him engage the line more.

The attacking structure last night was a bit odd... I can't recall any block plays and sweeping out the back from Qld, so we didn't get a chance to see how far Coby digs into the line on stock sweeping plays.

That's a fundamental requirement for halves in the league at the moment and would give an idea on how much space he will be able to provide for Mam and Walsh.

He has a great kicking game already, which probably puts him above most average halves as it stands.

It looks like he's putting on some size as well, which will improve his defence in contact.

Took the field goal pretty comfortably, but was under no pressure... it was maybe something he was lining up for the whole set... so good sign of management if so. Next progression is whether he can ice those field goals to win games when there is pressure coming at him.

Looks like he has a big boot as well... so he should probably start practising 2pt field goals as well.

By all reports Barrett is a great halves coach... and we've seen how NSWRL halves are coached through juniors by guys like Joey and Matty... so it would be great if he could get some 1v1 training sessions with Barrett and Reynolds

I'm optimistic, but agnostic, over Black and Bucowski. Both very capable, but neither are what I would call freakish talents or canny game managers. Nor have they been inspiring their respective clubs to victory. Whenever I need to temper my expectations I recall Croft and Madden, also capable, but not freakish talents, yet Junior Kangaroo/Australian Schoolboy captains.

We are in dire need of football brains.

Mozer, on the other hand, has shown enough game awareness to warrant giving a proper trial at NRL level. I still have some reservations about him, too, but fewer than our incumbents. C'mon Madge, just do it already.

I dont really have any reservations about Mozer.

His defence probably needs to improve, but he looks the goods from a first grade dummy half perspective.

He would be a God send to guys like Haas and Patty... for service and space he can provide around the ruck, and even to Reynolds/Walsh/Mam because of the width he can provide from dummy half

I think he's just being held back because of the injury
