Just had a look at every team’s back row this week for rnd 5.
Warriors have the bye, not included.

Even with a fit Riki, on current form, I am really struggling to find a back row duo worse than ours.

Cowboys, maybe?!

I know I’m critical of the 4 potatoes that are currently eating away at the Broncos salary cap under the guise of being first grade footballers, but am I far off?!
I would rather have the Parra or St Merge back row than ours.
I'd rather have our spine, including depth, than any other club's. We could even happily lose a couple of cap nibblers without noticing.

DAD'S ARMY

We have 3 of the 6 oldest players in the NRL.

The Mark Nicholls one always surprises me tbh. Just doesn't feel like he's been around that long.

Because we live in a salary cap world, every expensive talented player needs to be offset elsewhere by a less talented, less expensive player. That being the case, having poor quality in a certain position is only an issue if you’re losing - if you’re winning, then it is perfectly balancing your squad.

I’ll let you know what I think about our second row depth in early November lol

He took a while to establish himself, didn't he?

Edit: Just had a look - debut at 22, but not really a regular first-grader until he was 29. 12 matches in his first season at Souths, then far more consistency after that.

Doubt we have the cap space, but imagine if we could bring Bullemore back from 2026. His legspeed and fast ptb would be elite behind Haas and Carrigan, plus he has the versatility to fill in at second row.

Terrible decision to let him go, especially in a game that's moved towards fast, low centre-of-gravity middles.

@1910 may be able to clarify, but I vaguely recall that he wanted to go and experience life elsewhere, rather than us wanting to let him go.
I think he also got a very good deal from manly considering where he was at experience and career wise.

Yeah he's too smart, he's a lot like Parcell. Rugby League doesn't need people that want to be close to their favourite art gallery or museum.

He got released early from Brisbane. I think Ikin was happy to give him what he wanted club and career wise.

Yeah Ikin probably looked after him as fellow nerd

From memory, I believe his interests are in banking and finance. He requested to move to Sydney to be closer to that kind of action. Rugby League is his second job.

Indeed. According to his LinkedIn, he is a part-time Associate Analyst at Regal Funds Management. 🤓
