Here are Walters stats this season:

As starter: 1 win from 5.
Playing more than 35 minutes: 1 win from 6.
Longest playing time: 59 minutes. Against Storm and Dragons. Lost both games.
The fewer minutes he plays, the better he looks.

The Billy hype train ends this weekend. It's all on Reece.
I'm sure if you ask him he will apologise for pining your Mrs.

Last week Hunt threw two nice tunnel balls to our centres early, bypassing Walsh, and it created plenty of space for Shiba and Staggs. Don't understand why our regular halves never do it. Walsh is best used as a decoy for the first 30 minutes of the game honestly.

Semu for JHunt plz.

I don't think we'll be seeing Semu at all this year.

Even when Te Kura comes back in what should be a couple of weeks, I don't think we'll be seeing him for the rest of the year either.

Semu for JHunt plz.

His performances are up and down, the fact Hunt can’t find a consistent spot for him and he still can’t be relied on to start says a lot. He should be Souths best forward and he’s still just isn’t.

He will do one or two things right then nothing else. He plays like a player that’s content with his one good run.

Sunday Souths win by 50 their best performance of the year, Semu makes one run of impact at the end and his try.

That Eels game was really the inflection point of our season. Could have been the launching pad for our title raid. If we won that imagine how different things would be right now for us. Also hard not to think that the double halves injuries last week was just the nail in our season's coffin. The fact that it happened against Melbourne just burns me so much.

Trying really hard to not feel deflated and like 'who cares / why does it matter' about this game and the rest of the season. Feels like even if we do scrape in the 8 we'll just get bundled out first week regardless.

Regardless of how you feel about Billy at 6, this season has really shown his value to the squad.
I dont think anyone has doubted his value as a utility in this squad. And he's proved that he can be effective when used correctly. The most important part for him playing 6 is to defend well. He doesn't need to be something he's not. Just defend and get the ball to the edges early so they have time and space to work in. Surely he can do that. C'mon Bill!

Yep defence is the biggest thing we need out of Billy and basically whoever it is that gets put into 6 until Reynolds returns.

This week he'll be on the left so up against dolphins right side... dolphins basically run everything through their left with Katoa sitting on the open and working the middle to give Kodi space on the left.

I can see the dolphins putting a lot of pressure on Staggs decision making and trying to bait him into jamming well in field, which he is highly prone to doing.

For Billy he just needs to be strong on whichever backrow is lined up against him... either Keely or Finefeuiaki.

Allen had the same issue before he got injured, errors aside. Has a huge motor that's good for one or two big runs before it breaks down.

It's been weird seeing everyone gush over him since he got flicked back to the bench, after we went down the shitter with him starting at 9.

In case you've forgotten:

You aren't responding to the point I made. We know you don't like him, I don't think that could be clearer.

I think even if there's no chance of winning the premiership, how we end our season matters and the upcoming games matter.

We can really use this next month or so to find our DNA and build for next season. Last season we would have thrown in the towel and capitulated. The players have said they're more resilient this season and now we can truly show that and finish the season strong to secure a finals spot and even a home final. We're going to find out if that's all talk or if they have turned a corner.

It's hard to not feel a little dejected about the rest of the 2025 season after a kick in the guts last Thursday. .. but I do think there is enough belief in the squad for our players to rally and try to secure a home final.
We can cause some havoc in the finals and there will be teams who won't want to play us.
If Reece catches lighting over the next month, is injury free and confidence grows, he can single handedly carry us in September. From all reports Mam and Cobbo are well liked and we can use that as a motivating factor to try to get them one more game and make a prelim.

Of course this is my optimism but reality is that our season could end with an insipid bite. We'll know more this week and Dolphins are reeling and our pack advantage is SO far ahead of theirs that it shouldn't matter who the halves are.

The extra rest from Thursday is a bonus and we have had 8 days to get our combination right.
