Mate how bout you actually have facts about who is who before you start opening your mouthI also noticed this. Got into the huddle and sprayed them. We saw the results. Fair credit to him.
Anyone who wants to be happy with that win are welcome to it, I won't shit in your wheaties over it, but I just can't feel it myself.
It's Round 24 and we are lightyears away from the real contenders. Melbourne and Penrith seem to have a Plan A, B and C all ready to go all season. We are flat out just winging it as a Plan B. We have been left behind in what it takes to be successful in this cheap, manufactured, low brow dog of a competition.
With all of our resources, our historic pedigree, and all the hatred from others that you could ever need for a siege mentality, the best we can do is concede 28 in a clunky win over a very poor Dolphins. They pull out that sort of horrible start against a true contender and they get belted by 40+. Meanwhile we settle for a 10 point close call where the defence took the night off.
A couple of footnotes:
- We play worse when Patty is out on the field. We need to work out why.
- Whoever our attacking coach is, the man who is supposed to organize our setplays and our offensive "philosophy", sack them.
- Defensive coach isn't far off either. Is that Barrett? Yeah well, why is it surprising we're conceding 28 when that spaz is given yet another gig he doesn't deserve.
- Fitness at least seemed to be good. We stayed energetic for large portions of the game, with some pretty pathetic lapses sprinkled in (looking at you, Shiba).
- Walsh will be a superstar of the comp one day, but those silly errors like that kick out on the full have well worn out their welcome.
BeautifulMaybe he asked them if they 'wanted it', so to go and ****ing do it you ****ing ****s.
His defense is the concern. When he fired up in the second half and started cutting their halves time down they fell apart. Pressure on Katoa is the only way to stop himAlso thought B Hunt looked as good or better than Reyno has this year.
Our defensive systems, line speed and winning of the ruck is still not there. These are things that require very little talent, and even with injuries, these are not impacted too much.
When we have injuries, and combinations are affected, we can't depend on defence or the above attributes to keep us in the game.
We are lucky the dolphins defence was just as poor, and we could outscore them with individual talent.
Agree totally, and I also agree with quite a few points that @I bleed Maroon said.
I feel that we just need to stop this desperation for perfection. Literally no club looks perfect. Melbourne and Riff are the closest to it, Melbourne have the fear of Bellamy, and Penrith have generational leaders and winners.
That ten minute period last week (after absorbing the typical Melbourne starting onslaught to the intercept) was probably the most powerful any team had looked all year, we were absolutely bludgeoning the standard that we apparently desire until disaster struck.
We just need to pick up the wins, chill TF out, and hope that when Reyno comes back we click, and somehow Willison and Mam can recover in time (unlikely) for a week 1 finals game should we make it.
Hunt done a great job, really let Walsh have heaps of time with hand on ball and chipped in with really good kicking for 2 try assists. Very fortunate situation to be in when your replacement halfback is still easily one of the top in the league. What an extremely weird game. Thought Hunt stood up late which was much needed, and we got a better version of Walsh tonight too. Id honestly like to see how we would go with Walsh, Ezra and BHunt as the spine, but as Reyno is the one due back, hopefully we can make it work.
On our defence, we are just so inconsistent with it. One week efforts are ok, next week they are in the gutter along with the reads of the outside backs.
One thing for the offseason/pre-season I hope Madge looks at desperately is our defensive structures, but also our wrestle. We get out worked in the play the ball by every team. Couple of Redcliffe tries tonight were just cutting through behind the markers because we allowed a quick play the ball. Conversely, we dont seem to be able to consistently realise we are in positions where a quick play the ball would be hugely beneficial and we fight in the tackle rather than just finding the front.
Our way of wrestling clearly doesnt work and the lopsided infringements each week are a testament to this. Whatever we are doing is not as disguised as others are and when we allow quick play the balls religiously, when you eventually do try and slow them down its an easy and frustrating whistle more often than not.
It is another comeback win though, theres something there for Madge to work with..
Cant wait to hear mchunts pretentious, arrogant analysis of Walters limitations.
