POST GAME [PREMIERS, 2025] Broncos vs Storm

So what happens if Riki didn’t catch the ball given how far he ran in? Had a moment of Inglis-in-the-corner 2009 vibes for a second
Knock on and game over, not enough time to set the scrum.

Ps im choosing to ignore your scenario of a storm player catching it.

Pps it was 2008. I was in the crowd for that. It was ****ed. At that moment in time it was the most heartbroken i had been as a fan.

Can't agree with this take. Locky was clutch as ****, in any situation, ever. The calm head settling the team, sticking to the plan, turning momentum, making the right choice at the right time - nearly every game. Walsh has done it a few times but still has a shocking error in him at times and still has bad games. He will continue to mature, but he's nowhere near Locky - yet. Can he get there? Quite possibly, with his skill set, confidence, toughness...he can be the best the game's ever seen. But he's not there yet.

Doesn't matter and I refuse to think about it lol
Yeah, he was calm, he was safe, he was a leader, he played a ton of games by the time he retired.

But he never did what Walsh just did.

In 23 we had everything go our way and we folded. in 25 we had everything go against us and we won. Thats the difference in coaching...
I think our players in 2023, playing their first finals series ever most of them were awed by the occasion. 2025 we had learnt from those experiences and combined with fitness and mental resolve, got the job done.

I get what you're saying but reaching the top multiple times is better than reaching it once (thus far).

The trick for Walsh now will be to back it up and be insatiable. That's really what separates the great from the legendary.

We woulda made that GF too. From memory the next game was going to be a breeze.

**** Sims.

Walsh does not have the consistency yet to be anywhere near the club greats like Langer and lockyer.

Its incredible he peaked and provided his best performance ever in the grand final, but let's not pretend that pre injury walsh was almost a liability at times. Good thing for walsh is that hes got his entire career ahead of him to become more consistent. If he does he wont just be better than our greats, he could be the goat full stop.

Where does peak Milford rank?
Milf was lightning in a bottle for 18 months, halfway through 2016 the whole team disintegrated. After that he didnt have a halfback capable of taking the pressure off him.

At his peak he was electric and looked like our 5/8 for the next 10 years. We all had similar vibes about Mam after 2023.. hopefully his moment of madness has scared him straight and he can grow into the role long term.

I didn't say he's legendary, only that he's a better player right now than Langer and Lockyer ever were at their peaks. You can judge their relative careers, their longevity, their consistency, etc when Walsh retires. That's a little premature.

Oh. If that's your point I dont think i saw lockyer, Langer or any player ever influence a game the way walsh has over the last three games.

I've never seen ANYONE do what Walsh just did. We just witnessed something extremely special that will be talked about forever.

Even more amazing is two months ago you wouldn't have picked him for Origin. Now, he has to be first picked for Australia. As hard as that is to wrap your head around.

Seriously, who would you pick ahead of Walsh? Any position.

Difference in maturity too. We were so young in 2023 and completely overwhelmed by the situation at times.
Even the difference in how we celebrated the tries in 23 and 25 grand finals. Different scenarios in the way the games were going but things like that can make a difference.
Reynolds was saying against Penrith after Mariners try he didn't celebrate with the boys so his emotions weren't up for the kick.
Walsh did the same after the Shibasaki try to get us Infront.

That's what separates the greats for someone like a Ben Barba.

They did it year, after year, after year, after year.

Barba didn't do it for very long. You could insert any player who had a sequence of unbelievable performances at the pointy end of the year, Hayne is another. What made Lockyer so great was that he did it every single year. Walsh probably has to do it for another 10 years to even enter the conversation.

One thing is for sure, that's the greatest grand final game by an individual.
