OFFICIAL Jonah Pezet to join Broncos in 2027

I guess there's no guarantees with any young half but he's won a QCUP grand final, dominated Origin U19'S, and in his 1 NRL finals match had a try assist, 2 line break assists and a 40/20. He also had a heap of sides chasing him and the Storm potentially prepared to move Munster to fullback to accommodate him. I'm feeling very good about this signing.

More impressive in winning that Grand Final, he only played 10 games for the year but in the Grand Final kicked 5/5 and kicked for Bradley to score- hard gig for a 7 to come in and take over the kicking in general play and goals when the captain normally does it and is still there.

Madge has a huge dick and he is swinging it all over the place at the minute.
I am all here for it. All our recent coaches bar Wayne seem to not realise exactly who the hell we are. The biggest team in Rugby League, even at our worst, our support base and financials are the envy of all.

Rugby league has not looked better than Reynolds it has with the Broncos back in the top. The atmosphere, the spectacle and the footy didn't even come close to any Broncos final.

Who wouldn't want to sign here. This is still unconfirmed or a done deal but even if it doesn't others will come.

Givijg up on Black is insane hopefully not another Dearden.
Yep, shocking decision....

If this is all legit, and exciting if so, it will be interesting to see who we might lose to accommodate him.

Who we lose?!
@Sproj have you ever heard of the Rorter’s Model?
It’s simple. Basically, anyone that signs they sign for anything between 250-500K per year. When they leave, naturally, it leaves a 2.2M war chest to play with.
Simple math that is proven to work since signing Fittler.

Well I like it, it’s straight out of the Rooster’s playbook.

They're massively talking up how smart this deal is for us. tiny bit of fear creeping in when they talk about how young and talented we'll be when Pezet joins. Walsh (23), Mam (22), Pezet (22), Payne (25), Patty (27).

note: ages are obviously this year

Difference is those other 4 have had 3+ years in first grade

Bhunt and Reyno both gone by 2027, but it does hamper any potential upgrades for others.

Walsh (2029), Ezra (2029) and Patty (2028) all locked down long term... I believe Payne has a 3yr extension in front of him which locks him down until 2029 (the 10yr ban threat from Vlando might mean he doesn't want to risk it).

The pinch points might become Mozer / Buk if they explode out of the gates once they get regular first grade.

If we go the full storm approach and just stack the spine then we might struggle to retain the Mariners, Piaks, etc. across the squad who are more like role players, but can end up getting big money offers from other clubs.

The hope would be that the conveyor belt of biggest and fastest juniors coming through get coached up to play our system and provide value above their rookie contracts, before they inevitably get a big money offer.

That or guys like Piaks and co take unders to stay with their mates in a successful system... but you would expect that at some point they will leave to get their cash in the same way panthers players ended up leaving.

Succession planning for role players shouldn't be an issue with broncos with the amount of juniors we sign up... and if we become a legit powerhouse club again, then young guys will want to spend at least their first contract with the top 30 squad to get as much development and exposure as possible.

Similar to Galvin contract with the Dogs...
Turned down probably $1M+ at a lower club but fully expecting his initial deal to be in the region of 600-700k with the ability to fully develop and play meaningful games.
His time will come later in his career where Pezet can earn "Munster Perth Money"

Don't think this signing will strip talent from the cap like some are suggesting. Reynolds and Hunt are both leaving by then and they'd be combined 1M on our cap.
Let's not forget the new broadcast deal will come into affect in 27' so should get a nice 5-10% cap uplift depending how Vlandys slices the deal.

Onwards and upwards. Broncos back at the summit....and Fcking staying there!
