OFFICIAL Jonah Pezet to join Broncos in 2027

How come melbum and the dogs can get their guys mid way through the current season when they sign them and we have to wait until 2027?

We're still doing something wrong. Maybe something like respecting the rules.

We could have got him for next year but didn’t want him as we have Bunt and Reynolds.

Hunt needs 3 more years, to get the all-time games played record, i hope he plays on just for that

24+3 finals games = 27
27 times 3 = 81
355 +81 = 436
Current record = 430(Cameron Smith)
So hypothetically, we can win 4 premierships in a row, and if hunt misses 5 games in those 3 years, his last game (the gf) will break the record

because we're using Paramatta to get him ready for us.

him starting a full season in the halves is much better for his development than playing on the bench and filling in for a few games here and there

But you only have to look at the game he put on in the semis against the dogs to realise he’s ready now.

He's not going to take Reynolds or Mam's spot ... so taking him for next season means that we'd be playing him on the bench, and having him fill in for a few games here and there.

we'd only be hurting ourselves taking him for next season when we can effectively "loan" him to another team to develop him for us.

this whole thing is extremely smart from us. we've secured a long term option to replace our aging skipper and in the interim, he get's to be a starting half next season until we have a position for him

The club will need to make a decision because we still need to have some depth in the halves as well.

Billy, Bhunt, Reyno, Rogers, Coby and Duffy all off contract end of next year.

If they all leave I think it's only Ezra and Pezet on contract for 2027 onwards??

I dont think it hurts Coby and/or Duffy to sign for another year if they're next inline at 7 or 6 from 2027 onwards.

Especially if Reyno becomes a halves coach with broncos after retiring. Very good chance of development in that kind of system.

If you then get some game time you can put yourself in the shop window for a big deal, but potentially have a choice of numerous clubs (just like Pezet did just this year) instead of signing with a desperate dargs, knights, etc. where your career dies before it starts
We have Chanel Harris Tavitas younger brother in the academy. Only 17 this year but could be a option as depth in 27 if he progresses well.

We have a position for him now. Our ageing skipper is well cooked and should be encouraged to transition to the coaching roll he’s more suited to.

He’s become a bit of an anchor sadly and should have retired while on that high of a GF win.

I definitely agree but Reynolds is still trying to push another year possibly 2. If he does i say Titians will pick him up because the clubs shown him its his last year.

I think Reyno has been invaluable to our rebirth, but when the old guy does a hammie while chasing back in defence and then rips a calf muscle while rehabbing that hammie it must surely ring alarm bells.

I understand it’s the centre of his universe and he doesn’t want to walk away from playing but he needs to face the reality and understand he needs to transition sooner than later. Now would be the ideal time to retire at the top and put all his energy into becoming a great coach.

I don’t want him to tarnish his legacy by staying on too long and becoming a washed out figure like Darbs did.

Reyno tries way too hard for that. Boyd literally gave up, and couldn't give two hints of a **** at the back end of his career.

Reynolds IS NOT RETIRING, regardless of what some fans want

And since Reynolds is not retiring he will be selected as the starting 7 when fit which will probably be 3/4 of the year.

It's not that hard of a concept to grasp ... But let me spell it out for you

He would play a full season in the halves with the Eels vs maybe a quarter of the season in the halves with us.

He doesn't need more time as an NRL fill-in player ... He needs NRL game time. In 2026 he will get significantly more playing with the Eels.

If he came to us in 2026, he'd be further back in his development when we hand him the 7 jersey in 2027 ... Simply because we can't give him the game time to get those miles in his legs

Pezet wouldn't be coming to us in 2027 to play 2nd fiddle again like in storm. We would of had to promise him a starting role, so Reynolds either retires or leave its simple.

Mate let me spell it out for you, Reyno is cooked and we should be moving him on. If we brought Pezet here now he'd be playing most of the year as I dont see Reyno lasting anything like even half the year. When Reyno does eventually go down with injury we'll have the aging Dozer, no Billy and so only Mam with a fresh pair of legs in the halves.

Sure we have players like Black coming through, but they are not ready at this stage.
