I don't this it's a rule as such ...
it's in their Bargaining Agreement that players are entitled to 8 weeks off before they have to return for pre-season training (10 weeks for veteran players).

I think it's against the rules for the club to mandate them to be at training, but if they turn up whilst the club is doing training they can join in as well.
Ezra is basically doing this voluntarily... great sign from him
1910 indicated that Jensen was basically training all last year through the offseason... I think he was basically using the gym all the time

Aublix Tawha an early smokey for a bench position. he is one of the 6 that have started pre-season training and he's already impressing Madge.

Broncos premiership mentor Michael Maguire has pulled off one of the biggest recruitment coups of his career by signing Storm legend Cameron Smith to join Brisbane’s coaching staff.
The most-capped player in NRL history is in negotiations with Maguire to take on a mentoring role at the Broncos as Brisbane look for a fresh edge in their quest for back-to-back premierships next season.
It is understood Smith joined Maguire at Noosa last week, where Brisbane’s coaching staff and CEO Dave Donaghy gathered to begin planning their title defence in 2026.

So a little bit misleading by the article to be flagging him as part of coaching staff, etc.

Nah he will be working with the more senior players coming through the ranks, he won't be replacing anyone. Quite frankly its a good move, I would love to see him work with our dummy halves if possible.
