SPOILER The Dynasty Begins: The Brisbane Broncos are winning back-to-back premierships in 2026

All those sports go to considerable financial and time effort to negate the risk you say doesn't exist. Cricket Australia spends a huge amount of money getting travel right and impact minimal to the players.

One of the biggest contributors to injury is fatigue, guess what travel causes?

yeah i guess you're right ... I'm this club is too poor to be able to afford to mitigate these "risks".

I'm sure they'll just stick them in the cargo bay to get them to England and back

There is no risk you said. Make up your mind. So yes they could put them in the cargo bay according to you and the result would be the same.

Clearly I was talking about little to no "greater" risk when you take into account mitigation strategies that professional sporting organisations employee for their players.

I wasn't talking about the average guy on the street trying to travel to England and play a sporting contest.

If you really couldn't figure that out then there is no help available for you

Regarding the WCC, I hate this. Too much disruption to an already shortened pre-season. Bad idea.

Folks here getting a little too hot under the collar arguing about if this hurts our chances or not, but you got this upside down.

The question is does this help us?

If the answer is no, then don't do it

No you weren’t. You said no risk. Why would you think they need to take measures and strategies for no risk? You said it’s the same as any trial game.

I think it does help us. If Madge is trying to instill a winning mentality, then you should be trying to win everything on offer.
Picking and choosing what you play and when to apply yourself to allows for complacency.
Injuries will happen regardless, I don't think this should be the determining factor.
We could wrap everyone in cotton wool and Walsh does his ACL 10mins into Round 1.

Why are you pretending to be dumb, because I know you're anything but dumb.

In my first post on the subject I said there was no "greater risk"

In my second post I implied risk mitigation strategies such as arriving a week before the game

In my third post on the subject about other sports I said no "significantly greater risk"

Again it is hard to take you seriously when you pretend you're dumb

And you're wrong- if you think that a 20 minute drive to Redcliffe and playing on a nice 26 degree day against Bulldogs reserve grade after a full pre-season carries the same risk of injury or fatigue as flying 24 hours, playing on a wet cold field in England on three weeks pre-season against a SL team and then flying back I am unsure what to tell you.
let's cancel all trials in that case because they're just as much of an "injury risk" as the WCC

Agree about injuries, they aren't my concern which is why I didn't mention them

It's about 2 trips to England and back for many players, and an interrupted pre-season

But if Madge doesn't think that's a problem, and also thinks it helps in some way, go for it

If he doesn't, but it's a 'sacrifice for the good of the game' type thing, then no

I'll never know, but bottom line is this guy brought us our first premiership in 2 decades, so I have to give him the benefit of the doubt

Uttering the that last sentence should be a bannable offence

Well the footy is officially done for 2025 and it looks like we've been able to survive the international games without injury 🤞🤞

A lot of guys now heading off on their 6 week break and would then be due back in January, because they will stop training before Christmas.

Aus: Walsh, Patty, Staggs and Shiba
Samoa: Payne and Mariner
Kiwis: Xavier Willison ... Karapani a late call up so unsure if he has 6 weeks from now or if time counted up to this point
Cook Islands: Piakura

Some of these guys might choose to come back early and get a head start... would love to see guys like Willison, Piaks, Mariner, Karapani and Shiba come back early and nail their preseasons.

Good start for us, already top of the table!
