PRE-GAME [World Club Challenge] Broncos vs Hull KR

It’s an opportunity to win something else significant, it puzzles me people don't want to get behind it.
Completely agree. It’s a once in a career opportunity potentially. I think it should be mandatory. The amount of other sports in the world that manage it effectively proves that the game itself is not the issue it’s managing the travel process and environment. Do that properly and we won’t have an issue. I think it’s as good a way as any with a fortnight or 3 weeks post this to get the boys in a position to play the opening round.

I guess the other side of the fatigue/injury risk argument for this game, is that the boys' fitness will be right up there come round 1 given how much they've had to be match ready over the postseason. Presumably it makes Madge's preseason torture sessions slightly more bearable.

Good way to promote the game. The NRL have a vested interest in the game thriving over there, and might also help the London Broncos.

Ultimately there's nothing riding on this game other than pride. Even though the ESL is NSW Cup level you can't underestimate them because playing in England is always a leveler. Panthers have lost the last two.

Because its been 19 years since we won the title, we finally got it, and we want to go back to back.
To bring our amazing club back to where it belongs.

The last thing we need is a season ending injury to our key players (i.e. Walsh/Haas) which completely can set us back for 2026.

It's been twenty years, the feelings back... Premierships is what we want, so these games just has some of us flinching at injuries mate.

I can see the other side of the coin, but for some people... the title is ALL we want right now.

I'm telling you, for those who lived through the 19 year drought, we feel like joy (of footy) has been taken AWAY from our timeline on earth. We feel we are on lost-time so we want to make up for it. The Broncos should NEVER be in a position where we don't win a title for 2 decades, its as simple as that.

I lived that drought. Playing a world club challenge has no bearing on whether we win another grand final or not. Didn't seem to bother Penrith who went 4 in a row. Maybe it even helped galvanize their winning mentality.

Im not flinching about injuries... I have PTSD from how the 2024 season went because our preseason was completely ****ed and that was all because of internationals at the end of 2023 and Vegas trip in 2024

Injuries can happen at any time. You have an opportunity to emulate our great sides from the 90s and win the WCC, how can you NOT want that? If we are going to get injuries, I'd prefer to get it going for a prestigious title than a nothing trial at a backwater stadium against a reserve grade side.

On the flip side, we win the WCC and then go on and win the minor premiership and premiership as well - do the treble - what a year that would be!

There is the same risk of a season ending injury in our final trial which is always full strength, as there is playing the WCC

Nothing you can do but prepare I am more worried about fatigue and limited pre-season- two things which lead to injuries and seasons that never get going.

They are unknown too, you can think you're going well and tracking well but then you realise in May you're behind and nothing you can do then. That's what happened in 2024.

The Vegas trip is different to the WCC because it is played as part of round one ... Not 3 weeks before.

Besides, I'd argue that losing Reece and Arey for long periods has a greater affect on how our season unfolded than the Vegas trip.

Hell even when Walsh was playing he wasn't the same after receiving two brutal head shots

Very excited for this, I saw us play Wigan twice home and away and they were true spectacles. I fear Hull isnt near the standards of the mid 1990's WIgan teams but I am looking forward to it.

Which is exactly what Im worried about.

This playing group trained their asses off and were potentially the fittest squad across the comp last season... that fitness literally won us games.

But this group is not really hardened by multiple hard as **** preseasons to have that ingrained in them.

They have a history of poor fitness, so there is a risk that they've won the gf and have been rightfully celebrating, but they've let themselves go and need another big preseason to get themselves NRL fit again.

I'd have less concerns if we were heading into the 3rd or 4th preseason under Madge, because they would know what it takes and would be disciplined in keeping themselves in good nick over the offseason.

But thats not been their MO in recent years
