This is bigger news than re-signing HaasOn a positive note, fletcher baker signed with the dogs so he is officially gone.
I wasn't suggesting it would be identical. Those contracts are tied to revenue, 27.5% Plus another 2.5% performance pool- they get 30% of Cricket Australia every year- NRL are not coming to that party!
Clubs would love it, could you imagine the top 30 named every year and off your cap.
Interesting just today in the ACA annual report
34 per cent of players agreed with the statement that “If I had the opportunity to, I would consider foregoing an Australian domestic contract (CA, State and/or W/BBL) to take up a contract to play in other tournaments globally.”
OK ,,, lets add that variable to the equationYeah nah. Very basic breakdown.
He would have access to very good people helping him invest and minimising tax .
It's still not 3 mill clear though like R360.
On a strictly financial basis he is crazy not to grab the cash.
Was that the length of the contract he walked out on??
If he actually ever plays a game lol Ciraldo will probably give him a run during the trials , realise how poor he is and he’ll play NSW cup for the rest of the year.Reynolds steam rolls Baker for a try next year.

Something like identifying the top 30? then paying them on top of what clubs pay them.
Just spitballing here, certainly haven't put any thought into the ripple effect that could cause.
Interesting answer to that last part of your post though.
Isn't the salary cap already paid for by the club grants they get from the NRL?
If the top 30 was under a centralised contract system by the NRL that money would be taken from the club's grants
Side note: That’s still the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. lol You would never see that again, a player will just ask to be released and communicate with the club, not this guy, he secretly packed his bags and flew to France lol I’ll never forget that and I understand why some dogs fans haven’t forgotten about it either.SBW wasn't allowed back for five years, I don't really see why the same can't apply here.

Yep couldn't play NRL again until the deal he signed 9 months earlier is over- end of 2012 and he was back 2013.
Not sure why it keeps being said you can't ban people.
Nailed it.OK ,,, lets add that variable to the equation
Ummm ,, lets do some NRL algebra ?
7.8 mil in Oz = 3.9 after tax - 10 % for his manager and 20 % for the accountants . LOL .
Nailed it.
Depends on the reason for the ban.Yep couldn't play NRL again until the deal he signed 9 months earlier is over- end of 2012 and he was back 2013.

It’s not quite the sun…. but it’s a startOn a positive note, fletcher baker signed with the dogs so he is officially gone.
I think there’s a difference between a player who was under contract (and still under contract for that period) and a free agent.Yep couldn't play NRL again until the deal he signed 9 months earlier is over- end of 2012 and he was back 2013.
