Q-CUP 2026 Queensland Cup Discussion

There's a probably a reason for this, he's fallen by the wayside big time, i.e. he's not very good
Damn ... he was a second rower, but had the size to play front row.

Would've been handy if he had the same mentality as his brother

Plus some juniors I’m guessing. Not really expecting any T&T guys to crack the squad, but good to get a look anyway. Also not expecting any juniors to do a Walsh and blow us away, but maybe some aren’t too far off Top 30 contention.

Well Shiba came from no where . TMM was a T&T guy too if I recall ?

Shibs had played for us, and was clearly training in the main group (though I was shocked when he was announced Rd 1). And TMM was T&T as well, but we already knew he was good, just didn't know if he had recovered properly.

From what I've gathered, nobody from outside the Top 30 has made a compelling case to get upgraded. I'm more excited to see the younger guys have a crack.

Think that’s as good a Cup, BRL, NRLQ, Meninga side you could name.

Is Gundry the back up hooker in the group?

Can recall a Gundry hooker for Burleigh like 15 years ago

To answer your question.

Cassidy is the back-up dummy half.

Preston only made the transition last year in the NRLQ. He did OK from memory but he wasn't a focal point of the attack like Mozer was.

From memory the Broncos have another quality #9 coming through after Sam Martin but I'm blanking on who it might be.

Quality second man player, if he can work on his ability under the high ball and develop physically he'd be the ideal fill-in for Walsh.

Needs some luck, injury 24 and only three Meninga games last season. Think with Innes moving on the fullback spot can be his. I never like him on the wing.

There was a Cyril game in 24 when he did 16 tackle busts from fullback. It was ridiculous

Do you think Gundry over Poese?

My concern when you are all footwork and movement like Poese is what does that equal in NRL? You're not stepping past 10 blokes in the NRL, so I want to see something else as well.

Fat camp trio Waqa, Shibasaki, & Mapapalangi nowhere to be seen, funnily enough the names I saw most commonly thrown around by the media when talking about our train & trialists

As soon as Mapapalangi got a gig I wrote that it would take the greatest off-season in history for him to play NRL.

You can't play 20 minutes of Cup but 40 minutes of NRL.

From #19.

Toni Tupouniua- Wynnum front row/lock interchange.
Josh Coric- Wynnum front row.
Siosaia Poese- Souths Meninga fullback- two tries on the weekend.
Preston Cassidy-Wynnum BRL hooker/ half in Meninga.

Seth Gundry- Bears U20 fullback, Broncos NRLQ, Meninga sometimes winger.

Please don't play Verhoeven on the wing, no disrespect to Bradley and Hoeter they are warriors but please no. Having said that outside Hoeter he will score three tries.

Francis off the bench he will come on and make a difference somehow.

Turner I loved in NRLQ, he was easily the best Bronco, was made captain and signed in 24 on the back of the Bears awesome Meninga season and he got players player for the team and won Broncos U21 player of the year too last year. Played A grade on the coast last year. Straight up and down prop when Broncos needed redirection in NRLQ he gave it.

Bryce- Time to play Cup. Three seasons of Meninga is enough. Great PTB, great runner and gets between defenders. Bears A grade isn't enough let's find out this year. Runs like Berro.

Bukowski- 80 minutes. Make him Ballin.
