OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Rofl you are deadset moronic.
Payne could stick his first up your ass while walking out the door and you would thank him for it.

People acting like Payne had to make this decision immediately and tell the press TODAY.

Hey Wayne, im coming to the Rabbits but give me time to tell my team-mates and do the right thing.

NOT SO ****EN HARD TO GRASP IS IT.
Yeah but it's not so hard to grasp for Wayne to have done the right thing and not leaked it...

Doesn't matter whether it was Wayne, Blake Solly or the janitor that walked past the room whilst they were popping champagne bottles. THAT SHIT WAS GETTING OUT. The fact it didnt't prior to a signature is as unheard of in rugby league as it comes. WHAT WORLD DO YOU SERIOUSLY LIVE IN. It is 5 days later and the media cycle has ended already. TBH 36 hours before getting on a plane and journos having zero access to you, your staff and your teammates is a ****ing dream outcome. Nobody cares anymore, except the people that release late week podcasts and are milking the last drops of these stories. Move on.

And we all know why Wayne leaked it to the media... It's cause the Broncos had a right to reply and they knew once it got out Payne had signed elsewhere he wasn't going to back out of it. It's psychological manipulation.

He didn't waive the day 10 cooling period so clearly he was interested to see what Brisbane would come back with. Hence he had to tell them. If you think there aren't any loose lips in that building you are an even bigger moron.

You are clearly demonstrating how little you understand about this. How about you take a chill pill and go have a nap you old ****.

Like I said a phone call or two to some important teammates would have been good but at the end of the day I can say with fairly high confidence he was on a time crunch to let the team know before that story got out. The phone calls and discussions could wait.

P.S. Payne's fist feels awesome if you were wondering...

Ideal world and all, yes in person would have been the best way. But he couldn't. Pretty sure I read in my skimming that the club offering the new deal CAN NOT announce it until AFTER the cooling off period. Payne likely thought he had time up his sleeve to do it in person.

But someone leaked it, and I would say it was leaked deliberately to make sure he didn't backflip. Because it wasn't an official announcement by the club, there is no breach of rules. If you want to get pissed off with anyone, blame Souths or Payne's manager for ****ing him over and denying him the opportunity to announce it in person.

Walters claiming that he would have been able to keep Haas if he was coach.

Kevvie is sounding more and more like a bitter ex every time he speaks.
Mate, I was about to say the exact same thing, every time Walters opens his mouth these days and comments on the Broncs, there's a distinct aroma of sour grapes in the air. The bloke's a club legend why doesn't he just get on with his life and use the experiences he's gained serve him better rather than looking into the rear-view mirror every day

I've got nothing but respect for Payne and the way he's conducted himself. Mundine, Williams and his manager on the other hand seem like a bunch of d*ckheads. I understand that he needs father figures in his life so I can't blame him but I think Payne is a already a better person than these guys.

Funnily enough, Nein are saying his father is about to be released from prison on a technicality related to his arrest.

In hindsight, reviewing sone of his recent actions, it could be possible that payne had all but planned to go to R360.

He won origin and a premiership. Rep'd Australia and then chose to add Samoa to his rep his heritage. He basically achieved everything he could.

Maybe brisbane were not happy to include R360 release clauses, but souths agreed to this and he figures he is now covered if there are further delays in R360.

Or, Patty being a bro, doesn't run and gossip like a bitch about a close mate and let's Payne tell the others in his own time? Assumptions and such.

Reyno said they were told by whatsapp.

Unless he called Patty first & then told the rest.

Or he waits? And when they are all together next let's them know? What was his rush to tell the world that it couldn't have waited a few days so he could have told his club and mates respectfully?

Again talking like he had no option but to do it the way he did.

Or he waits until he is in England, then calls Wayne etc & says I am joining Souths. He then tells his teammates face to face.
