Anyone else noticed the increasing lack of credit we seem to be getting for winning it last year? The narrative appears to be that we were just lucky, Walsh hit form at the right time, etc. Yet no one seems to acknowledge that we were without our starting halves from rd21 until the prelim, and yet didnt lose a game. They also don’t mention losing them again during the GF, yet they mention Melbourne losing ****ing Howarth! They have talked up Penrith all off-season like they were the premiers. Where’s our ****ing respect?
All they seem to be talking about with us is how tough and intense Madge is
Caryannis even said that some like that can't have a long career at a club, because it burns the players out and puts them off side.
Although they always forget to mention that the most intense coach ever, Bellamy, has been at the one club for 24 years now.
I very much doubt preseasons are all that different at most clubs, it’s just become some tired narrative that’s stuck to Madge since souths and he can’t shake it, despite even winning the ****ing thing. It’s also ridiculous to think he hasn’t changed at all since souths, with experience comes change. All they seem to be talking about with us is how tough and intense Madge is

I think the whole Madge and intensity thing has a lot to do with the meetings and the time they take more than the physical stuff.
Some people have the persona to win a group over and some just become a noise you want to switch off.
They can be saying the exact same thing but it depends on the person.
A big thing from this was how much Teo was mentioned for his talk on the field.
Luke Leary was talking on SEN about the changes to trainers on the field
, how that time has been limited this year and how much halves were relying on them to get messages quickly to fullbacks and wingers and how they can push tired players to get into position.
This could prove the biggest change in the NRL this season.
Kinda ironic considering for years the club’s attitude was about making money and to hell with on-field success.View attachment 37849
Club must have sold truck loads of premiers jerseys…
