OFFICIAL Mitch Barnett signs two-year deal with Broncos

I'm not sure some of these "journos" read what they write.

so two days ago they were reporting out offer was $750k a season for 2 years with a possible option of a 3rd year.

but here is where i question if the read what they write.

in todays article it says that out offer is $800k a season for 2 years with an option for a third (they don't say in who's favour the option is)

then later in the article they say that Barnett is on $800k a season at the Warriors.

then later still they say "the Broncos deal represents a minor pay cut" ... so according to this article $800k < $800k
They allowed for inflation ;)

I hope we are also still perusing Lahrs even though we’ve nabbed Barnett. He is going to be some player in the next few years.
I hope our recruitment team only has eyes for forwards at the moment, because the club is so thin on quality & depth in that area at the moment imo

He was pretty interested in a move away from the Tigers a few years ago I reckon
Yup, he sure is. However, Tigers couple of years ago to today is night and day difference.

1 thing that continues to exist with them is front office dramas but their on field performance has hugely improved under Benji since.

Shawn Blore is at the storm

He doesn't play for the Tigers ... He plays for our GF bunnies
My mistake. I got the names wrong. I was referring to Tigers 10 and thought he’s Blore.

I’m disappointed with our results, sleep deprived, another fcuked weekend and watching Cowgirls spanked by Tigers. At least I’m getting some joy of it though. 😀.

We need 2nd rowers. Desperately . Who is even available/gettable at this point.
I feel like Barney has actually played more 2nd row than middle over his career... or at least he did to start his career

Probably slowed up a bit sonce then. ACL and all. Just want a couple of blokes that dont get folded in half by outside backs.
Wahs were using him in the backrow to finish games either last year or the year before and he was still very effective out there

Douhi getting fit has made a difference.
He can add the X factor .

Two things to consider is that we can’t compare Barnett to Haas because Haas is gone. So we can only compare Barnett to all other available options and in that regard he’s a pretty good pick up. One that leaves somewhere near $400k left over from Haas and our unbalanced cap.

The other is that, with all due respect, hopefully next season we no longer have Reynolds or Hunt on the field. That is a massive amount of maturity and experience exiting the club. We could even lose, or not want to keep, Billy too. An older hard ass prop is a great get.

Piakura is a hell of a second rower but if we could swap Riki out for a professional second rower too that would be excellent

For the same 'experience' reasoning, should we consider trying to lure Capes back from the Warriors on a cheap 2 year 400-500k deal? I think he is only signed until end of this year at the warriers for ~600k. He's getting on, but is an upgrade on our existing options.
